Tune: Kingsfold
('I heard the voice of Jesus say')
Acts 4 v.23-31 parts
*********
Chief priests and elders they did say
To Peter, John, that day
With threats, saying, Do speak no more
Of Jesus, and make sure
You obey us, but they did go
To the church, and did show
What they had said tot them, they would
Stop witness if they could
When the church heard, then all did pray
Agreed, said, Lord alway
you are God which have heaven made
And too the earth displayed
And the sea, all that in them is
You Creator, sure this
They said, By David's prophecy
We do enquire here, see
For David said, Why did heathen
Rage, and the people, men
Imagine and then plot vain things
When none them success brings?
Kings, rulers of the earth took stand
And gathered, a whole band
Against the Lord, and His Christ too
You see it all, you view
For they were gathered for to do
All that was known to you
Whate'er your hand, your Spirit deigned
And purpose of your reign
You determined all before they
Had done it in their day
Behold now, Lord, their threatenings
Healings by your hand bring
And that signs and wonders may be
Done by your servant, see
Your Son Jesus, through the Spirit
Then was shaken each whit
The place where they were gathered, they
Were filled when they had prayed
With the Sprit, and they all spake
God's word bold for His sake

A good write Orchi as a reminder that boldness often works best.
Thanks Fay.
I take my hat off to you O - well I would if I had a hat - how do you manage such an output?
Thanks M. Erm, well I 'cheat'. I might write one or two poems in advance. Or rather, more inspiration some days than others. Miss B got a hat?!
He who dares and all that jazz ....... 🙂
Thanks N. Yes - I dared as 'The Birdman'. See me falling over the cliff? Doh!
Good one Orchi
Thanks Gold.
