Urges

Fay Slimm.

Urges.

Winter's knife now lying buried
in burgeoning earth
means naked retreats as leafy
trees bud and life readies.

Wakeful urges reveal the breast
of sleeping nature
as Spring-timed faces peer daily
at neighbour's new petals.

Frozen ground beaten by trying
for early growth keeps
freeing root-fingers as clod splits
to cope with heat's arrival.

Yes season's rush ever battles
as yellow trumpets
its best to make winter relent
and let in Spring's attractions.

You find some outstandingly beautiful images to go with your rich script, Fay.
Autumn here; this can be an experience with its own delights..................... Nah - still bloody raining.....

    • Fay Slimm.

Ha - - well Dave -- good to know your Autumn is on you with its glorious colours of russet and gold - - and meanwhile am grateful for your welcome visit and read of my little tribute to Spring.

Found this via your picture, Fay. No wonder you had daffodils in mind....

What better way to bid Adieu to Winter than with poetic words from Fay's wisdom? 🌹

Bless ya A.P. for stopping by and adding your comments to Spring's great urges now March is here - - a fine time to be out and about methinks.

Spring to mid-Summer is my favorite time of year. So out and about is where I'll be. 😎

            Good write Fay.
The warmest Spring for 180 years, one paper says. I remember the one in 1842 so well.... I was there in person, being very old! lol.

I do not doubt that winter has treated us mildly in our little island dear Orchi and left room for this lovely warm Spring - thanks for the reminder that it really has arrived with so many flowers too.

Brilliant write in the style that only you have mastered. As for urges - I'm afraid my body and my mind are no longer in sync.
