Zen Tree
Standing there
like some
honour bound
and loyal sentry
on guard ..
Silent, and so
perfectly quiet
Almost invisible
and still ..
Ready for just
about anything
maybe ..
Except for the
sound
of a brother
falling alone in
a forest
somewhere ..
Which of course
no one
is ever likely to hear ..

Ah yes, that old chestnut. Erm, not meaning a chestnut tree particularly!
'If a tree falls in a forest with no one around, does it make a noise?'
Well, it might be a chestnut tree. Woof! (Fido says) 'Do shut up now Orchi'. lol.
Precisely, and you were almost getting warm back there at one point Mr. O ............. maybe 🙂
I can understand the zen thing a bit. Like St Francis of Assisi: 'Brother Man, Sister Moon, Brother Tree, Uncle Fido', etc. Not sure if he said that last one, but he would have liked Fido too!
The bible says about trees clapping their hands in joy. Not that they have actual hands!
Thank you dear N. for showing by poetic talent how much power emptiness holds.
cor blimey ma'am Fay .. did I do that ... & all by my self too .................................. thank you for noticing my friend ............................ Neville x
Didn’t hear any Zen going on there Nev (tin ear?), but what I did hear, no feel, was foreboding…. And it’s raw.
... Ooh err Dave .. sounds to me like you got that increasingly common problem with ya ears mate 'tin ear tuss' ...................................................................... ta for the thumbs up .. N
That a definitive diagnosis, Doc? Never had that problem. Whistle in ear? Deal with it: Cover orifice with appropriate finger forming airtight seal; press in/out and sideways to alter pressure continually in canal. Clears two mins. Slight echo, disappears.
The most relaxing of sounds are those of trees swaying gently in a breeze. The quiet rushing of leaves high above and the mesmeric creaking of their boughs. A emotionally warm companion to sit with and contemplate is a mature tree.
Just who knows how much a tree sees (or hears) and whether it is our next step along the continuum of being.
Footnote: in the supposedly 'woke' (yuk) days your use of 'brother' mocks these new attitudes. You might well have chosen sister but clearly we don't have trans gender trees in our woodland. I don't know what's going on. Saw an article about a protest on one of these 'woke' issues and several protesters had placards reading "some women have a penis". Has the world gone mad Neville?
maybe I'm just one o them old fashioned guys that have a thing about trees too .......... cheers 🙂
just one more, passion
we share dear Poet, Supreme
I too
could write a book's worth of Ode's
to those Trees, that
offer us, so much stability
of solace
in our, chaotic lives...
beautiful! thank you
and yes, if we heed their wisdom
they always lead us
to that Right, path
in life
............................ Now that's a real treet sir Mek ............................ thank you kindly & true .. N
Very descriptive and beautiful. I do detect a bit of lonely/empty I believe. C
My word, what excellent detection capabilities you have dear C ...N
Raw yet refined. This is precious.
...................... oh wow .. that'll do nicely my friend .... thank you ... N 🙂
Trees are so wonderful to be with in life, I always wonder what tales they could tell us. Good words Neville.
Andy
Cheers GF60 ................... Me too mate ......... N 🙂
we forget that it is alive, from a single blade of grass, to a mighty oak.
It is the essential and eminent source of life, physically and spiritually, that Zen Tree of yours, that gently sways in the invisible breeze.
my word, what a lovely review you have pinned here for me Suresh .. many thank you's .. N
