Tune: Cwm Rhondda
('Guide me, O thou great Jehovah/Redeemer')
*********
Psalm 24 v.7
Lift up your heads, gates to city
For Jerusalem it be
And be lift up, open you doors
E'erlasting from shore to shore
And the King of glory He shall
Come in, you shall prosper well
Come in, you shall prosper well
Psalm 24 v.8-10
Who is this, this King of glory?
The Lord, strong, mighty He be
Mighty in battle, His foes He
Defeats, none o'ercome Him, see
Be opened you doors and you gates
His procession great awaits
His procession great awaits
Psalm 25 v.10-11
All the paths of the Lord they be
Mercy and truth to such, see
Who keep His covenant, laws sure
They shall gain His favour pure
For your name's sake, O Lord, pardon
My sins, forgive every one
My sins, forgive every one
Psalm 26 v.20-21
O keep my soul, deliver me
My Saviour, Redeemer be
Let me not be ashamed, for I
Put my trust in you, be nigh
To me, integrated, upright
Accepted so in your sight
Accepted so in your sight

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7.8.7. format. You hearing me singing it over some roads in our town, named after Welsh towns?! It's apt, as there are hills and valleys in that area.

Very nice and 878787 is something new to me,take care, poet on
Thanks Dean. It's only the number of syllables in each line.
I used to call it 'metre', but it seems that's a bit more technical, and includes stressed and unstressed syllables. I call it 'format' now, in case 'metre' is not technically accurate.
I might get too stressed trying to make the syllables stressed and unstressed - if you follow! lol.
Beautifully captivating. I love your gracious hymns, they're always so beautiful!
Thanks Rocky.
