It's Not Difficult

Christina8

It's so easy to love you

Everyone says marriage is all compromise

Well, all my defenses are lowered

when I look into your eyes

There's nothing you could do that would

make me love you any less!

I'm hypnotized by your smile

This I must confess

You are my King.  I am your Queen.

I am happy with you this way

Not saying we haven't grieved

But time is on our side this day

You hold me like I'm made of made of glass

But kiss me like we'll catch on fire

I never second guess why you do what you do

On this journey, I'll never tire

        • Christina8

LOL, like I told Teddy, I was married once before for less than 3 years and it WAS difficult and all those things. But this time it's different, almost 20 years together. I guess you just have to find the right person. Thanks for stopping by!

This is actually art. Idk why but that line of being held as glass is just such an immaculate metaphor for that vulnerability and ALSO transparency that is present in marriage. I mean wow you're a genius, I adore double entendres. You truly explained this message well!

          • Christina8

Rocky, I don't deny I'm smiling ear to ear because of your review but you give me too much credit!! You are the second person to mention that line but you've found the meaning in it. Going to try to write like that more often. I'm not a genius but I appreciate the care in which you took to read my poem. Art? You made my day! Thank you again for taking so much time to read and review my friend!

Well, I remember some of our wedding hymns:
Fight the good fight; Through the night of doubt and sorrow.... I talk some rubbish! lol.

After 52 years of marriage to a wonderful man, I have to say that marriage is made up of so many different things, there's no recipe, it's different for every couple. You have however, in my estimation, hit on the very essence of love in marriage; "You will always have my back and I will always have yours for as long as we both shall live." It does keep getting better and better. Beautifully written from the heart.

Thank you bella, I did not know that about you, but yes as a second marriage (I should hardly count the first) we seem to have found what everyone wants in a marriage. That's not to say there weren't difficult spells.....Thank You on your kind reply, I appreciate it!

So true Christina, my wife and I had a wonderful life together for almost forty years, she is still with me although she passed over two years ago...
