It's almost your birthday again
but you've passed on;
Watching o'er me in heaven
my heart weighs a ton.
I remember the blue dress you wore
Can't quite tell the shade--but bright
Your jewelry--the odd smell in the air-
And casket all gave a morbid sight.
I think you gave us different gifts
But the best one for me is Love.
And teaching me no matter how different people are,
they all deserve love from us and the Father above.
I was always your "baby", so intuitive
Very astute to your anxiety and fear
But you did what you must to make things work
And I'll hold onto the sweet memories, mother dear!

simply beautiful!
I'm sorry for your loss, dear poet
may I recommend
Ed Sheeran's 'Supermarket Flowers'
and I'll share these anchoring words
from that great, Keats:
'the tears will come into your Eyes - let them - and embrace each other - thank heaven for what happiness you have and after thinking a moment or two that you suffer in common with all Mankind hold it not a Sin to regain your cheerfullness'..
(I wish you a healing peace
stay strong, live bold
make sure you gather as many tales
as you can
for when you reunite and chat
like old times)
keep that loving heart, Bright!
Thank you dear poet for the inspirational words and words of wisdom that you've shared with me! I really appreciate the kind and wonderful comment!

Thank You Melissa!! It means a lot to me.....you know we had tough times growing up, but then again didn't we all? i am honored to call you my friend as well. Thanks for the inspiring lift!
We all have, yes, but a precious few actually overcome them and find the Lord and true happiness
Agreed!
this is the second poem I have read here today that near brought a tear to these tired old eyes of mine ... well poemed indeed C ............ N
I remember your poem "And the wind cried Mary"---now that was a good poem about grief. I am glad that you read and enjoyed my poem....no tears!! 🙂
Reading this heart-touching message brought me near tears dear Christina - your Mom would surely treasure these lovely thoughts forever.
Thank you so much for your kind hearted words dear Fay! I'm kinda sorry it brought you near tears but I hope they were happy, because I am happy! Just sharing some thoughts....thanks so much for your wonderful comment!!
A sensitive write Christina.
Thank you steve!!!!
Please excuse if this sounds offensive - there's something horrid about 'exposed' open coffins, seeing the deceased person in them, I think. *shudders*.
You probably don't have too many of those funerals in England, do you? I would imagine with less land space they are quite expensive--burials. Yep we mostly do open casket funerals here.
There was something morbid about a Pope in one of those situations, I think. Some were ghoulish.
A poignant tribute to your mother. I lost my mother many years ago and still feel sad if I dwell on that fact too long. My father remarried and now he's gone too. Sad realities we must all face.
Absolutely! Some say "time heals all wounds". I think it's taken the sting away so I can focus on happier memories. Thanks for your thoughtful reply DV!!
Literally so so so amazing. My mother passed away as well, as you know, and this right here touched my heart. The descriptions of the casket and your mother brought memories of my own. Know that she loves you forever! That line about the best thing she gave you was love is SO relatable. I praise my mom because of her unconditional love and happiness she always gave me. I hope everything's okay. This is marvelous!
Rocky please know that your reply made me so so so happy!! Beyond words! Everything is more than okay....time has taken away the sting so I can remember happier times, not all happy of course, whose are? But I have family members that are gay and my husband is half black and she loves all of them even being very religious. She said Jesus is love so he would love all those folks too. Thank You, you brought back vivid memories of her to me just now. Thank you!! Christina
Hi mom, I read some words about you today from a daughter who loves you dearly. She must have been loved dearly by you too for she rewards her readers with a piece of such warmth. Some things are just so special, and it comes across through the chosen words. Good job well done mom.
I can't tell you how much your reply meant to me!! I shall always cherish your sweet words! I was close to (happy) tears, the things you said about me were so special. Thanks a million Dusk!
A lovely message, a great tribute to your mother.
Thanks so much Rozina, I really appreciate it!
This is not good-bye, you'll see each other again. Heaven is only a heartbeat away. (((HUGS)))
