You didn't have the capacity
to be the father I need you to
You didn't have eyes to see
how my heart bled for you
Does blood run thicker than water?
Why did you up and run away?
Do you know how you hurt your daughter?
It's probably best you didn't stay.
The liquor was more of a priority
as it always has been and still is
than you taking time for me
I guess the best we'll ever have is this.

Yikes. That last line hit like a brick wall. Father issues is a place I can relate. My dad left me at 5 and decided to come back into my life 8 years later. I have a whole poem/rant written about him on MPS, it's titled "My Silent Protest (A Rant Against My Homophobic Father). It's truly sad to see that he left from your life without much of an explanation. I know the gap that's felt from an absence of a parent. I just hope that you take time to focus on your own family, the one you've constructed from the ground up, and love them to the most of your capacity. Best wishes!
Oh definitely, I don't even think about him anymore unless one of my older siblings brings him up in conversation. It's just, he really fucked up my childhood. I will look for your poem! Thank you always for your kind words!
Sad as hell and maybe even sadder .. x
Thats because you are a good dad and love your children and don't know what you would do without them, where my dad could give a shit less......Thank you for your reply sweet N..C
Oh Christina, that's so sad, I'm so grateful that you overcame this and grew to be the beautiful woman that you are,
We only have one true Father, and He will never leave us
Absolutely! Agreed! I dwelled on this for decades only to find heartbreak. Now I am free as a bird with my thoughts and my family. Thanks so much for your beautiful reply!
I can't even imagine the hurt having had a loving father even though he had difficulty showing his feelings. i see such love my children show towards their children - I guess I am ytruly blessed. My heart goes out to you Christina.
Thank you Michael! I appreciate your kind words!
Yes, sad indeed but on the other hand you are better off by not having a negative presence around you and yours.
It's good to re-visit our writings on personal issues after a bit of time has elapsed. How we view things can change with time and it's worthwhile acknowledging how we have moved on in relation to the issue.
Yes, I agree I am better off without him in my life....Thank you very much for your kind reply!!
