Fish Supper
Hurry, be quick lad whilst
the tide
is still out and not looking ..
Be sure
to note all of them empty
old wormcasts ..
Each one of em laying bone idle
out yonder ..
Then fix a point lad, tween
horizon and tip
of the mast, of Yours Truly ..
And when
she returns, place your
hook-bait,
your trace and lead sinker
tightly, but ever so
lightly o’er that very same
spot where
them old empty worm casts
were spied ..
And when we are done son,
we shall both
and ya ma son, each dine on
bass, sole and codling
for breakfast, dinner and supper
then hunger no more ..

What a beautiful account
Never fished one, but I do like to eat someβ¦.
I guess I like the tittle as it isβ¦it makes me hungry though
Dover sole is one of my favourite dishes .......... I often cast my line o'er the water but rarely catch out ... I suppose one day, I'll have to put some bait on the hook ... thanks spills n truly π
Excellent! I myself fish a lot and my favorite is lake perch, not that ocean perch......I don't like fish made with a "fishy" flavor. people don't usually know what I mean when I say that......great write!!
I think I know what you mean .. & thank you Christina8 for visiting ........ N π
Good write N.
.......................... cheers O π
This is great! That transition from "no responsibility," to learning how to deal with the world. Amazing. I'd say I like "Teach A Man To Fish" better because it encapsulates the overall message of the poem, but it's truly up to you. Great nonetheless!
you just caught me on the hop .. very tempting I must say tho' Rocky .. very tempting indeed π
Now that you taught me how, I think I'll go fishing. This poem was as colorful and descriptive as any I've read recently. I swear I felt the sea breeze and smelt the salt air. The tale itself drove me to the final line, in which I found another suggestion for a title, "Hunger No More." Loved this one. - Phil A.
How bloomin kind you are Phil and very much appreciated my friend ... I like your proposal too sir and may very well use it in my next anthology which should be out later this year ......... Neville
Such an enjoyable tale Neville. I also love fish and chips, thank you!
Thank you Roz ... even made my self feel hungry now .. roll on Friday ............... Neville π
There is nothing quite like the taste of freshly caught fish. I used to go fishing and one day a friend and I went out in his boat and we were four miles out to sea from Folkstone and we caught thirteen cod that day, our street had a magnificent meal that evening.

Sounds just like my cuppa tea Andy ... Cheers,
Neville π
Teach a man to fish and heβll have FISH SUPPER. No better title, but even more so, no better poem to hook oneβs worm on.
thank you kindly my friend .................. can I have mine with lots of salt n vinegar π
