Tune: England's Lane
('For the beauty of the earth')
2 Peter 1 v.16-19
********
Peter, James, and John they saw
Jesus transfigured for sure
On the holy mount that day
Was true, not to led away
In fables or man-made tales
Power of the Lord ne'er fails
For they saw Him there displayed
His inner glory arrayed
With Elijah and Moses
Speaking of the plans no less
That He would accomplish when
He came to Jerusalem
He would suffer and would die
But rise again by and by
At that mount there came God's voice
This my beloved Son, His choice
And will is to follow me
In Him I am well pleased, see
We too have a word certain
Word of prophecy, so then
We prosper if we take heed
To it, as light it shall lead
Us through dark, the day shall dawn
Day star rise in hearts at morn
