A Dreamer's Wildfire

Rocky Lagou

I’m still waiting for the day

In which every drop of sadness will

Be interwoven into the textiles of eternity.

My pillow is no longer a pillow, but a puddle.

It’s a sponge that guzzles my tears,

It’s a pillow with the will to consume.

All the while the wisps of wildfires keep whispering:

I’m unworthy, and afraid.

They say my life is in vain.

But they lie, oh they lie,

Because what they don’t know,

Is that I am the wildfire.

I am a firestorm,

So bright and irresistible,

So untamed.

The heat is unashamed,

And unstoppable. The fire burns for peace –

It was born for peace.

So not even death, not even hate,

Will have a say over their stay.

For I am a dreamer – I am a freedom-seeker.

And all the ones who say otherwise are only feeding the flames.

You don’t need power, prestige, or fame.

Because to fight for peace, you need nothing more than a name.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem was born out of two different poems that I intended on posting. I don't know why but recently I've been having intense writer's block, and I've been feeling incapable of producing anything worthy. I just hope you'll be able to resonate with this one. 🔥🛌

This is a masterpiece!! So sad in the beginning but wow!! "I am a firestorm......the heat is unashamed." Incredible!! I loved it throughout but those two lines really swept me away, Rocky! Awesome poem! Have a great day!

Hi beloved Christina! Thanks you so so much for your enthusiastic review, I'm truly delighted to see you connected with my words. I was unsure of whether to post this poem as I felt it wasn't a "sufficient" or "adequate" example of what I have to deliver but to see your remarks makes me so fulfilled. I wanted to convey this feeling of worth through my words and I felt a metaphor that would aptly suit that was a wildfire; they're so bright and fearless. Of course not the type that destroys, but the one that invigorates. I'm truly touched by your comment Christina, have a blessed day!

Hey Orchi, thanks a bunch for the kind comment! I'm truly glad you enjoyed and I hope that you left with a little pep in your step. Say "hi" to Fido for me, would ya?

Sometimes you need to walk away from writing to let the brain replenish.
All will be good in time, once the planets collide the volcanos erupt, and someone shoots, Putin

        • Rocky Lagou

Hehe, oh Paul you witty poet. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a kind comment. Yes, indeed, I should allow my brain some times to rest and focus on replenishing my "poetic fuel." Just hope the world doesn't end by then, hehe.

              Well penned Rocky. 😉👍

              For when a man
              no longer confuses himself
              with the definition of himself
              that others have given him,
              He is at once
              Universal and unique.

Wow, what a graceful comment! I couldn't have put it better myself. Very true and wise words dear poet. As long as we don't lose the grip with ourselves and our identity then we are unstoppable, they way a wildfire is. Thanks so much, have a great day!

                • Accidental Poet

I can't take credit for the quote Rocky. Those words were from Alan Watts. Have a great day, Rocky. 😀

Wonderful words Rocky, peace should be with us all in this modern world but people just do not seem to care.

                  • Rocky Lagou

True words Andy. Peace seems like such an elusive thing, especially when comparing it to the madness going on in the world. I do hope for better days though, and thanks so much for stopping by. May peace be with you!

Dear Rocky !! I see you are going on a Rocky time. Life is a flame test. We burn and burn to become strong. Every Metal has to go through compressions, Tensions , and flame tests to prove its worth.

When Metal is tested, similarly we are too tested to get our Mettle. No one can make you weaker, without your Consent. So leave everything, let the positive breeze , breeze through and see how your real worth is exhibited. Till then take the flame tests to get stronger in life..... Great Insightful Write
