"What are you doing child?"
"I'm trying to catch the smoke!"
"But why?"
"Because it's fun daddy.
Come play with me."
".........................ok"

No smoke without...
disco lights, party food, magicians and party food, lots of games and did I mention party food?
Good write SC.
depends on the smoke...
but yes, the matter of fact
wisdom
of children, is what we
lose
and try to recapture, in our
adult years..
an intriguing read, and
I really enjoyed, your succinct
wording
thanks for sharing, dear Poet
Omg, this was such a vivid picture. I feel that the smoke can be referring to the dad's cigarette, and the child is so innocent that he doesn't even realize what that's causing to his father. I feel that long pause as well until we reach the father's response, "ok," is so deep. It's like the dad doesn't want to play, but rather decides to do so because he chose the life of a father and not because he wants to in actuality. Some profound stuff.
I'll take that. Thanks Rocky
I like your poem - it brought back memories of 'fun' activities the children wanted me to see/do with them - "jump in the puddles Mum and see the splash and who gets wetter"!
I like Rocky's explanation too.
The innocence of children is so wonderful to be with SC.
