There's No Change Without Risk

Merlin

You see everyone always says I'm kind

Patient too,

Everyone, even you;

But my thoughts are about me first

I've given enough of myself

To see me at my worst,

And I shouldn't have scars

Where other people were scathed

And I shouldn't be wasting my thoughts on you anyway,

There's only so much space

And when I give and give

You only take,

I guess my space means nothing

To someone who does not care,

So neither will I

When the going gets tough, I dare

I dare to be the villain

Rather than rave

About how I was the victim

In anyhow, any which way,

I dare to be cruel

When others don't care

About my own space

Or whether I think it's fair,

I dare to be selfish,

To care about my own health,

But is it selfish

To want a better life for yourself?

I dare, I dare, I dare

To be what my parents weren't before,

Happy and free

Without a lovers scorn,

So when you see me next

Don't ask who I'll be,

Wonder if I dare or dare not

Be me.
