Pride
Man’s greatest sin
One of mine
‘Cry!’ You tell me, ‘Why won’t you cry?’
Because I refuse to let you see me cry
Yes, I have pride
Yes, it is great folly
Yet sometimes, it is all I have
And it saves me from vulnerability
And so you call me ‘cold-hearted’
Because you don’t try to understand
Why
And when I do cry,
Later, into the night,
I’ll muffle it
Because deep down,
I want you to walk in
And tell me it's alright
And hold me really tight
The way you should have
When I messed up
And I just wanted comfort
Not conflict
But if you just hold me
Right now
And tell me ‘it’s alright'
Then,
And only then,
Will I let you see me cry

Wow, this was so open and delicate. I'm so sorry to hear you feel this way, sometimes people just don't have a "sensitivity meter" and ignore other's true feelings. I hope you can overcome this though.
wow I loved this… it’s the fact that you don’t avoid vulnerability, you just want to be appreciated and reassured when you are vulnerable. beautiful arrangement of words. truly.
Such a beautiful use of language! I really enjoyed reading your poem.
