Take the Blindfolds Off

Accidental Poet

What’s wrong with the world today?

Every time I turn around

Someone in love with the trigger

Innocent lives falling to the ground

Bullets flying through the air

Shopping malls and schools

A crazed shooter who got a gun

Working his trade with his tools

You know it’s true

No one understands

Has the world gone crazy?

Blood on someone’s hands

And the NRA stands its ground

Defending the right to carry

But how will they feel

When it’s their child they bury

We all need a compromise

Where innocent lives are saved

Gun laws that work

Where new safe roads are paved

“Don’t blame me”

The guilty ones always scoff

The problem won’t get fixed until

We take the blindfolds off

Love your poem. It speaks the truth. Until the blindfolds come off, the finger pointing stops. Maybe things will change. They have too. America can't continue down this path. So many innocent lives lost.

If changes aren't made to protect innocent lives, there will more than likely be another Civil War in the U.S. Thank you Jeannie for reading and your comment.

A very reflective poem that revolves around a recurring issue. A very pathetic situation where people are killed mercilessly πŸ˜” Thankyou for this poem!

Powerful words AP and the lines

        "But how will they feel
When it’s their child they bury"

        are so meaningful.

Thanks Andy. It just seems so senseless that we can't seem to end this problem. I fear that it's only going to get worse.
