Commendable Character

Tune: St Fulbert

('Ye choirs of new Jerusalem')

Colossians 3 v.12-17

********

Put on then, as God's chosen ones

Who be His daughters, sons

Holy and beloved, show tender

Mercies, kindness render

And humbleness of mind do show

In longsuffering grow

Forbear one another, forgive

Each other, in peace live

If any one has a quarrel

As Christ forgave you all

So also do you the same, so

Harmony you shall know

And above all these things put on

Charity, love, each one

It be the bond of perfectness

Brings wholeness, completeness

Let peace of God rule in your hearts

Calmness in all life's parts

To this you are called, one body

The church of Christ it be

Let the word of Christ dwell richly

In you, in wisdom, see

Teach, admonish one another

Each sister and brother

Speak in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs

Seek to reconcile wrongs

Singing with grace unto the Lord

For ever true His word

Whate'er you do in word and deed

This motto, do it heed

Do all in the name of Jesus

Thankful to God, Him bless

Building of character is a great task, good thing Jesus gifted us with Holy Spirit.
