They came,
They saw,
We conquered.
They came from many miles away
To try and beat our team,
Beat our team at croquet.
The day was very hot,
Sun cream for the skin,
Drinks of water for the body.
We played this marvellous game,
The one we all enjoy so much.
We played,
We sweated.
Hotter and hotter it got,
But we played.
And our team played so well,
We thrashed them.
The team played twenty games
And we won seventeen of them,
Drew one ,
And only lost two.
Venerunt,
Viderunt,
Vicimus.

Good write Gold, and bit of French there.
I'm reading a book, with occasional Latin phrases in it. An academic book *gets out translation dictionary!*
I took so long finding out what 'Carpe Diem' meant, that there was no time left to seize the day. Doh!
"Illigitimi non carborundum."
Swoon! An alternative to not using the 'b-word' there! lol.
congrats!
must have been so hot..
thanks for the fun read Andy
Just a teensy weensy too much triumph there, Andy - thought it was supposed to be a friendly game.....😊
