Know now it high time to awake
And gospel message to uptake
For now it be our salvation
Nearer to us, for every one
It nearer than when we believed
Firstly, and gospel we received
Night is far spent, day is at hand
Go spread Christ's light through every land
Let us therefore cast off what be
Works of darkness, and put on, see
Armour of light, live honestly
In moderation, properly
Living as in the day clearly
Not in rioting, revelry
Not in chambering, licentious
Nor wantonness nor in lewdness
Nor in strife nor in envying
But putting on Christ in each thing
His life, His love, His nature full
By His grace live up to His call
Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, make
No provision for the flesh sake
Not fulfilling the lust and greed
Of self, but Christ's selfless way heed
