Tune: Doncaster
('Put thou thy trust in God')
1 Peter 1 v.5-9
*********
You are kept by the power
Of God through every hour
Kept through faith unto salvation
Ready for each nation
In the day of the Lord
Christ shall return, His word
is sure, so we rejoice greatly
Trusting confidently
Though now at some seasons
You distressed, the reasons
Your manifold temptations, trials
Yet lasting for their whiles
You may no be heavy
In heart and mind, so be
But is so that your faith be tried
Shown real and not denied
Your faith more precious be
Than gold which fades out, see
Though your faith be tried as with fire
Naught can destroy or mar
So you faith may be found
To praise, honour, redound
With glory when Christ does return
Thus daily here we learn
Christ we have not seen, though
You love Him and Him know
Believing, you rejoice greatly
With joy unspeakably
It joy full of glory
Your faith's outcome shall be
Even the salvation of your
Souls, life for evermore

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. format, encouraging us to hold on in and through trials. An apocryphal verse (i.e. not sure if it's true; may be a bit dodgy or suspect) says: 'Bear even with Orchi's singing, though he inflicts it upon you, a terrible trial. No more than two songs per day though from him, or you'll go nutty!' heehee.

You fading out, Gold (Andy) - verse 5?! Aww!
Nicely penned Orchi
Thanks SC.
What a fitting verse for the times in which we live. Good for you dear friend.
Thanks Bella. Got earplugs to avoid the 'trial' of me singing?! lol. Aww, they say it's like two cats fighting. They are horrible to poor old Orchi. lol.
I don't know, add a little bass and horns to a cat fight and it might be quite entertaining. Don't lose hope!
No I am not fading out, just not believing organised religion as it deserted me when Joyce went into dementia and all praying and worship did nothing to help her.
Good one Orchi.
Andy
Thanks Gold. Is 'religion' the problem maybe? On a form it asked 'Religion'. It did not have 'Christianity' listed, but 'Church of England'. Hmm.
