Durable Days

Tune: Christchurch

('Now is eternal life')

Psalm 71 v.1-7

*********

Lord, I do put in you

My trust, me here renew

Let me not ashamed be

But my state now do see

O save me in your righteousness

Make my escape, so I you bless

Incline your ear to me

My prayers hear, troubles see

Be my strong refuge where

You be my rock firm there

My habitation where I may

Resort, your fortress, there I stay

Save me from the wicked

That I not be misled

In their ways, they are cruel

Work unrighteousness all

For you, Lord God, my hope, my trust

From my youth, though I be man, dust

By you Lord I have been

Upheld since birth, have seen

Your keeping hand, I praise

You, and remember days

That from old you have me sustained

Prosperity in you have gained

I be as a wonder

To many, they confer

And marvel at my state

Though it not be mere fate

For you are my refuge, you keep

Me, through life-long still as your sheep

As always a well writ piece.
Though the premise of asking itself is flawed.

Thanks Suresh. I suppose it's asking things that are God's will - what pleases Him, or what may be generally agreeable, and things like that. A bit spurious to ask that we will win the lottery, etc, unless we truly give some of it away to good causes, or truly have an urgent need of our own.

It is our nature to ask, and in return what I think we receive is the sustenance to be the best that we can be. Good write my friend.
