Dirty Linen

Few men know pain like a poet knows pain

nothing craves sky like a kite ..

Yet the very essence of life lays discarded

alongside those bloody overalls

that she, discretely disposed of last night ..

Thanking you truly mon ami for this gusty warning to whosoever when old clobber disposing and I sorely relate to resultant complains - - males who have preference for storing just-in-case- clothing create trouble in camp if just one is found missing - - hhhmm - methinks this maybe penned from the same bitter experience ? ..............x

I found this while clearing out the attic .. I remember precisely when I penned it & the inspiration behind it .. the only thing I added was the signature double .. 🙂 x

      simply Brilliant! oh Poet Supreme
and thank you for inspiring me to scribble a few lines in response
      (you know it's true love
      when they hide our shortcomings
and find a way to forget our indiscretions
then still find the strength to do our washing
      while smiling at us
like we're shower clean, even beneath our skin...)

You are way too kind brother Mek .......... 🙂

I have to confess, my friend........... I'm sure of nothing here.... my pain threshold is all over the place.... I'm unsure if your kite is a dicky bird or a contraption made of paper or other light material held together with a frame of likewise light material on the end of a long strong and light tether...... Finally (more or less) I was instructed by Mother to always soak/wash bloody clothing in cold water before said blood dried.. Perhaps the unidentified 'she' in your piece needed a little more domestication and a little less discretion.

In Summary, I am forced to the conclusion that this was a very intriguing write - thank you...... 🙂

I am truly delighted that you found it so Dave 🙂

And I pursued that without a prelude to ponder predictably your preamble pejoratively on a poet's propensity to process pain....🙂

It has occurred to me that there is possibly something else she is not telling you. Just a thought, I could be wrong. Very intriguing, and thought provoking!!

In my time i have experienced enough white garments turned pink by accident to know this suffering.

I rarely dare wear white these days.

Thank you DA .. I have only one item of clothing in white .. a single shirt for special occasions .. Good to hear from you old friend .. I do hope things are looking up sir. Neville

You are literally one of my favorite poets in the universe! Neville your undeniable aptitude to gracefully craft words into pure works of artistry is captivating. Just with the first line you already had me breathless, "Few men know pain like a poet knows pain." Preach and amen!
