We were once creatures of nature
We sprang from this earth
Beings of its evolution
Just as every other creature
But somehow our paths diverged
We strove to dissociate from it
Our very biology challenged our mortality
And we found it hard to accept
So we forged ever onward
Stumbling upon discoveries that have led to a mechanized, technoligized world
Which we struggle daily to control
But it has made us feel immortal
Which I guess is the goal
So take a walk in the forest
Marvel at a beautiful sunset, or the glow of the moon
And realize that we are not above or below
That we are part of something truly magnificent
And if you listen very carefully
You will hear it calling us home

Your "ramblings" as you call them are examples of fine poetic expressions on the fall of humanity and its dire result - we certainly were once much nearer to being "creatures of nature"dear Bella. The final three lines of this perceptive write made me go outside and try to listen..
Thank you dear Fay for such a beautiful comment. I'm so very glad that we are listening together.
Where you walking/rambling on a Monday morning?! lol.
To places far and wide dear Orchi. Always appreciate you being there!
Everybody should spend time in the forest. Keeps you sane.
Amen my friend! There's no place like it. Thank you
Amid the cacophony of modern life it can be well nigh impossible to hear that faint call – special effort required.
Great reminder, Great plea, great write, Bella.
Thank you dear friend for such kind words. It does become difficult to tune out the noise, to find that special place.
Last night we walked in a fairy-lit rooftop garden (a mini forest actually) and saw a stylised glimpse of home. That we are by nature part of something truly magnificent makes a primal tug and beckons us home.
So beautifully said dear bard, thank you for such a lovely comment. It's those simple experiences that mean so much.
We still are creatures of Nature Bella but we have trodden a different path, hopefully one day we will find the right path again.
Andy
Thank you dear friend, I have great hope that we will find our way back.
its all good out there, except for the bad bits isn't it Bella .. this is far more than just some rambling on a Monday morning, read by me on an early Friday morning .. it all makes so much sense & those summative lines are just perfect ........ Neville
Thank you my dear friend, for your sweet words. Let us keep listening to nature, and hearing each other, for thoughts are so much better when shared.
'Our very biology challenged our mortality'
as our very mortality, ravaged
our cognitive capacity to appreciate
breath...
(I too believe in that universal oneness of all things
and wonder, like Spinoza
at the sheer majesty of it all)
a read, that transports me
beyond reality's dark sky limitations
dear Poet, thank you!
My dear friend, your comments touch me so deeply. And your response, "our very mortality ravaged our cognitive capacity to appreciate breath" brings a whole new dimension that I can't thank you enough for.
I could't agree more. We, in our arrogance, tend to aggrandize ourselves, when we are nothing more than another part of nature, no more and no less than the others. I love the last two lines.
Thank you so much my dear friend for reading, and for your kind words. It is a privilege to share thoughts with those who genuinely understand. Your poems and comments always inspire me.
