After Today

Fay Slimm.

After Today

I shall find bluebirds adorning my sky
after today,
knowing tomorrow waits
holding a hand out,
healing the whys
of today with promise of  change
and proffering  faith
to my waiting heart which refuses
negation of love.

I resist relegating us to yesterday's
pyre and will renew,
after today, more positive outlook
as reminder that better
tomorrows not beaten by unwisely
housing acceptance
can re-spark lost connection
of firey touch, repair
our verve and dry wet eyes.

After today yesterday's raw aching
may then become numb.

    • Fay Slimm.

Thank you for seeing through the lines here my fine ami -- sad indeed is the time when love becomes somewhat one-sided..........x

A worthy outlook on life's many tribulations. Affairs of the heart weigh heaviest. "Repair" and "re-spark" sounds the wiser choice. - Phil A.

Yes affairs of the heart when going wrong can cause "wear and tear" Phil - -thanks for dropping in and having a read of my take on repair.

This resonates - the grief I'm suffering from the loss of my Jeanne is still so raw - may there soon be bluebirds adorning my sky.

          • Fay Slimm.

Oh my dear Michael - I did not know you have had such a loss and my heart goes out to you as you cope with grief - hoping sincerely that soon a few bluebirds adorn you own sky.

Yes sadly Jeanne succomed to cancer in October after a long period of suffering - I miss her so much - we were mariied for 58 years but I know she wanted me to look to the future and keep up my sense of humour - hopefully I've done that with todays posting.

As I have said many times "Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday."

              Brilliant!
              (of new beginnings
              and footholds of hope
your words whisper to my poetic senses
              funny, the power of Poesy
              as now, the word 'today'
seems to hold a more promising
              premise
than 'the today', I was preparing to endure
              once again...)
              what a wonderful gift
              thank you! dear Fay
