A Necessary Evil

Bella Shepard

I do not love you

At times I hate you

But I need you in my world

Without you I am disconnected

You are fickle in the attention you pay

On again, off again

I can barely keep up

You deliberately torment me

Changing, morphing

Leaving me behind

And each time I must learn anew

How to live with you

You are unforgiving of my mistakes

And when I feel I will never find my way back

You mock and torment me

My life is inextricably linked to yours

And if could I live without you

I would

But until then

You are a necessary evil

And my only hope is that

Someone, somewhere

Will show me the way

To recover the files that I mistakenly deleted

I could have sworn I hit “save

  • Bella Shepard

Now Orchi, I would not compare you to the internet, more like a summers day, a breath of fresh air don't ya know. Good boy Fido!

Now here's cult for you. We could have meetings, do a lot of complaining, and in the end accomplish nothing which is how it usually works. Thanks for reading my friend, glad to know I'm not in this boat alone.

      • Bella Shepard

You know what they say "misery loves company". Thank you my friend for reading and for your well wish, hope you've had a wonderful day as well.

What a clever and very meaningful metaphor Bella which on first read fooled me until the last few lines -- then I nodded in sympathy after knowing the same pain of hitting delete................ ooooh this one I keep for when I next press similar Saves dear friend.

Thank you my dear friend for reading and commiserating. Fortunately my husband and I sit across from each other, with back to back computers, and many's the time he's saved something I thought was gone forever. Hope the shoulder is getting better.

About halfway through Bella, I was sure you were heading for a divorce and I woz in with a chance....!

I am meticulous in the creation of a comprehensive file system in my PC email - too comprehensive....a search takes an extreme effort - especially when I go to my deleted items (which I haven't cleaned out for a long time)....but noone told me the archive folders had their own delete file....

          • Bella Shepard

Dearest Dave, you are a delight. Actually, on more than one occasion my husband has brought back from the dead something I thought I'd never see again. I have to say that admire anyone with a conprehensive file system. Thank you for reading!

The internet can have its ways of determining its own way of going but you will overcome it bella.

Thank you dear friend for reading and sharing your feeble effort, which is anything but feeble. I think you hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head. I thank you kindly for the fav.

How relatable is that. And at the same time how metaphorical. How much dependency leads to pain and loss. Yes a perfect title too. Necessary evil indeed.

                  • Bella Shepard

Ah yes my friend, so much of that in life. Thank you for reading and commiserating.
