The Days of Rock and Roll.

David Wakeling

Last week I went back to my old town,
I walked around up and down,
Just to see if things had changed.
Some things had been re-arranged.

Those Rock and Roll days of tenderness,
They stay with you in happiness,
The first kiss the first dance,
The awkward flight of teenage romance.

I walked past the Old Scout Hall,
I was surprised to see it still standing tall,
The old apple tree was still there,
Standing proud with hands in the air.
That was where Joanie and I had our first kiss.
I still remember the joy and the bliss.

Those Rock and Roll days of tenderness,
They stay with you in happiness,
The first kiss the first dance,
The awkward flight of teenage romance.

As I carefully tip-toed inside with care,
I saw a ghost standing there.
I can’t explain it but Joanie appeared.
She was just the same it was really weird.

We danced around and for the first time my eyes could see,
Then we walked under the old apple tree,
I kissed her again like I did back then,
Listening to Rock and Roll music again.
And just as quickly as she arrived she was gone,
And all I have left is the memory of a song.

Those Rock and Roll days of tenderness,
They stay with you in happiness,
The first kiss the first dance,
The awkward flight of teenage romance.

The awkward flight of teenage romance
A cool line that allows us all to visit moments indelibly alive and indescribably important. I took the trip w you and enjoyed it.
