The Visitor

Teddy.15

And as I dreamt long, long into this beautiful night

I glimpsed his grin deep within the shadows of the moons wrinkles

startled by the figure of this magnificent raven

perched right beside me on my dreamer’s quilt

he whispered ever so gently

on

how to find the end of my grief

I asked him...

how can you know?

he replied...

although you sleep, and of that you dream when you finally wake

you'll be free.

then he flew his enormous wings

right back into the wrinkles of the great moon

A fine write Teddy, and compared to some which say ravens and crows are horrible.

The symbolic raven, and its grand influence on the speaker, makes this poem so enchanting. There is newfound liberation, and with it, a newfound sense of happiness. Thank you for this poem.

          wonderfully refined
I love the restraint in your poetic voice
          less Poe's dramatic tone
          more of the subtlety, few
can pull off successfully, an alluring
          trait, in any poem
even if the poem's theme is more
          sorrowful
than I would wish for a treasured friend

Dear Mek We wouldn't be human if we didn't carry some sort of grief would we, it's how we learn to steer it and as I've always been fascinated with "the raven" Edgar Allen Poe" it's is a poem that hypnotizes me each time I read it, but also because of course ravens and crows are very much related to death and dark I just love to make a different spin just to expand my thoughts. Thank you so much.

A beautiful gothic inspired piece here Teddy.15, marvelously described and also tells a moving and freeing story of the positive relationship of mankind with fauna.

Bravo, and I hope that all is well!

I like your poem teddy 🙂 it’s interesting the spiritual meaning behind seeing different animals / birds .. the sign of ravens isn’t always dark tho .. I think it can be related to positive things aswell or so I read ..( I saw ravens a few weeks back , in our back garden then the next two days after outside of our front window .

A nicely expressed poem which I liked reading ))

Dear Rose, indeed in my poem the raven is my helper, yes there has always been a darkness to crows and ravens, I'm actually drawn to the raven. Thank you dear Rose.
