Messenger (my Raven)

Teddy.15

I just wasn't prepared

I mean I’d read about it

I'd even seen others experience it

but me? I just wasn't prepared

I guess I never thought It would happen to me

but here I was sitting in perfect peace

minding my own business

when suddenly

the Raven appeared

Paralyzing me, I couldn't help but stare

See, he's a fascinating bird

black as death itself

and his voice carries a magnificent crowing sound

over landscape of a thousand miles

and I suspect eternity?

appearing on my ledge uninvited

accepting his being

no noise just silence

time had suddenly stopped

this raven was only present for a moment

and as he picked up his eerie feathers

no doubt off to face his next victim

I knew...

I knew ...

in that split second

my entire life

was about to changed forever

and it did

because my friends

this type of sorrow

 is truly unpreparable.

    A fine write T.
I've seen ravens and crows in a big field, almost all to themselves, seeming to enjoy being there.

Hi teddy )) a good writing .. to be honest I think ravens can often be associated with the dark and that maybe there a sign of bad luck .. but no I don’t think they are .. I always find it interesting the meaning behind seeing different animals /birds ,

            • Teddy.15

this poem, is more centred dear Poetess
as-if from the very first word
                you already knew, where
                your scribbling footsteps would
                take you, for a change
a rare gift in our poetic journey
since most of the time, i find
we start not having a clue, where
                our words will take us..
                lol
(or maybe that's jut me and my
                mad hatter, tendencies)
such an atmospheric poem you've crafted
                a memorable read, thank you!

Sorrow! But I have to tell you, the RAVEN is my spirit animal. They're empaths, and very smart! If you haven't, I suggest reading Odin's ravens. They're sometimes seen as a sign of death, but I see them as...transformation; and we all know how painful that can be. But, with transformation comes rebirth. Great read!! Thank you!

                  • Teddy.15

Dear Liz, I have an extraordinary love for the raven and use him in many metaphor the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe which I just am mesmerized each time I read. I'm originally from London and when I was a child crows used to terrify me. Odin's ravens I love that, will check it out thank you so much I'm so glad you enjoyed this. ❤️

I am an empath too .. )) never thought my spirit animal was a raven .. never know what mine is. Although I did see a raven a while back that kept appearing near our house and I wandered if it was a sign of something

Sorry to interrupt on the comments between you too ..

                      Hope it’s ok

Good words Neville, Ravens are very clever birds to be able to get our imaginations to fill ill of them.

Dear Melvin, thank you so much dear friend, one I wished I had not experienced so early in life, but it did teach me so much and I'm always humbled when this raven comes to inspire my muse. ❤️
