Tune: Stuttgart

('Earth has many a noble city')

Psalm 119 various verses

*********

v.7

I shall praise you with uprightness

Of heart, come to me and bless

When I shall have learned your judgements

They all righteous I do sense

v.27

Make me to understand the way

Of your precepts i do pray

So shall I talk and meditate

Of your wondrous works not late

v.50

This my comfort in affliction

Your word sent to me, 'tis done

That word has quickened me, giving

Me life, I in you living

v.66

Teach me knowledge and good judgement

You them to me still have sent

For I have your commands received

In you true I have believed

v.77

Let your tender mercies here be

Unto me, I shall live, see

For your law it is my delight

Giving light, dispelling night

v.99

You through your commands have made me

Wiser than my enemy

For your words are with me ever

I shall forsake them never

v.117

Hold me up Lord, so I safe be

So I shall live, your word see

And will have continual respect

To your statutes, no defect

v.133

Order my steps Lord, in your word

It I have sure loved and heard

And let not any sin rule o'er

Me, for your word I adore

v.160

Your word it true from beginning

Of it I do speak and sing

Each one of your judgements righteous

Endures for ever to us

I have longed for your salvation

You Lord over each nation

And your law it is my delight

Grant me e'er spiritual sight

Very nice dear Mr O is it word or world?

    • orchidee

Thanks T. Well, it is 'word' meaning 'The Bible'.

I initially thought the same as Teddy

Thanks N. It's 'word' as above comment.

Notice the deliberate mistake? This is in fact a poem in 8.7.8.7., not 8.8.8.8. But no pesky syllables were harmed by being discarded in the making of this poem.

          Correct.

            Thanks 2781.

This is lovely dear Orchi, I have a special affinity for "Let your tender mercies here be
Unto me, I shall live, see
For your law it is my delight
Giving light, dispelling night". Thank you!
