Another Local Legend

Neville

Another Local Legend

ever since

he began repeating

himself ..

his friends began

to call him echo ..

later when he

began to talk both

to himself

and in tongues they

all laughed at him ..

later still

when he saw

something dark

in each

of them, they first

became

wary and then,

very frightened ..

so they all agreed

to banish him ..

sometime later tho

when he tried

to stop

a locomotive from

ploughing into

their VW camper

with them all in it

and he

perished in so doing ..

he suddenly

became a martyr,

a legend

and a local hero

all rolled into one ..

Thought the next treat was his power sublime but that train shifted all that to an irresistible urge to testify leading w his best cuz he deserved as one of yiu and then all mystique of him fills stories proud. Nice tome. I like the attach history , penetrates my insight and connect. Thanks

Fido says to me: 'If ya got nothing (or nothing much) to say, why do ya insist on saying it?' And 'Why do ya use 20 words when 5 may do?' He knows. lol.

Pick holes in the narrative? Wouldn't dare..... Probably none - although would be interested in the fate of the campervan...
              Intriguing tale though....

I have no idea, but reckon it might be worth a fortune ..

"Another Local Legend" is a thought-provoking poem that touches upon themes of isolation, misunderstanding, and the complexities of human perception.

Dearest Nev, this one brings a lump to my throat, and tears to my eyes. Why do we label those who don't conform to the herd, or make us feel uncomfortable, as different. They often have the biggest hearts for they understand adversity. This is priceless my friend. A thousand fav's.

No matter how often one encounters such an individual or event, I dont think one ever really gets used to it .. and I know what you mean Bella, folk tend to fear what they dont understand .. I greatly appreciate your thoughts on the matter you kindly left here .. Neville

                      'later still
                      when he saw
                      something dark
                      in each
                      of them,'
                      that ubiquitous
imbued cruelty in the human condition
                      unfurled so acutely pertinent
                      by your poetry's insightful ink..
I relate and so can only empathise
                      with those granted such accursed
                      ill-fate's...
                      (I read and learn
                      dear Poet supreme)
may he be granted a most triumphant peace

                      • Neville

its in the white space between the visible lines you see so clearly .. thank you Mek and truly .. N
