Jazz On A Suumers Day.

Goldfinch60

What a day!

Jazz all afternoon,

Jazz all evening.

We started at New Orleans,

The trumpets showing the way,

Showing the beginnings of jazz.

We were then taken to Tin Pan Alley

Where the world started to hear,

Hear these wonderful sounds.

Billy then came into the room

Singing her emotive words.

Across the sea we were taken

And ended up in Paris,

Where Django and Stephan changed the way

Into that wonderful sound,

That wonderful sound of violin and guitar.

Then the day finished in Harlem

Where jazz just grew and grew

And took the world to the wonder,

The absolute wonder of Jazz.

Then there was that group,

That group that brought tears,

Tears of laughter to our minds.

Guitar, banjo, sax and comb

AND COMB I here you say,,

Yes and comb

Buzzing away in wonder

And when he wasn’t playing the comb

He was hitting a suitcase with brushes,

Brushes and a foot.

The laughter abounded

But so did the appreciation,

These four guys playing jazz,

Playing jazz differently

But it was still jazz.

What a wonderful day,

A wonderful day had by all,

A day of glorious jazz.

A Suumers Day? heehee. Spot any typos I may make! I've done some blunders.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band did it for me! They have been traveling all across the states from New Oroeans-I published Jazz Liberation after going to their concert- sounds like you were transformed after your jazzy day too-thanks for the musical write!

Thank you Parisab, I have been listening to jazz for over seventy years, it is wonderful.

This piece WARMED me. I read it twice it was nice and had the spice of improvisational displays of bold attacks w gentle landing to find exact space in the bars.

Thank you Bobby, I used to play trumpet in a swing band.

Love the Bone. It’s too oft under appreciated and the many seats dwindled after the Big Band era. My favorite was the cat who along w Joe Sample founded the Crusaders, Wayne Henderson who had that Be Bop resume and heavily was influenced by maybe the best, J. J. Johnson. I also loved that James Brown kept a bone in his funk bands, Fred Wesley. Many Props and much Respect. You’re a monster.

this piece almost reads as conversational and i find it quite enticing 🙂

It is that way i write many poems Kinsey.

Sounds like you did have "Sugar in the morning, sugar in the evening, sugar at suppertime", can you ever get too much? Once again the video is a real toe tapper, love the guy playing the comb, suitecase with little brooms, etc, what a virtuoso. Great write!

Thank you Bella, yes we did have sugar all day.
Yes that guy was terrific, he was a very good singer as well.
