Lunar

peto

Fully formed hanging low

Swallowed up by the glow

Overcome by the pull it possessed

He felt changes inside

Soon unable to hide

As the moon did it's worse at it's best

An unquenchable thirst

Heart a beat from being burst

Mass assault on his senses and frame

Rolling eyes find a hold

Turning yellowy gold

As the beast stakes his ownership claim

Hunger pangs bring a chill

As he feasts on a kill

In the bone yard his temporary lair

Saturated in blood

Husky coat caked in mud

The result of his predatory flair

All alone with dead deer

Something pricks up his ear

It's a howl and he haunches his back

Running wild in the night

A spectacular sight

Makes his way to the rest of the pack

OH MY GOD! I love this one!! I thought I was the only one who saw or even noticed the full moon!!! This is so descriptive and vivid! I found myself hunting with the pack! Pisces โ™“๏ธ Full moon!! That's why all the love and lust poems. Emotions all over the place! All the poets are in their feelings! ๐Ÿ˜†

      Not the only one LIZ
      Couldn't help but admire it
I don't know what defines a "super moon " as this one is classified
It did seem so much brighter last night
Glad this struck a chord with you
      Nothing wrong with scattered emotions
We'd be a bit robotic otherwise
Thank you very much for such encouragement
      It's priceless

Yes! It was so beautiful! I actually took a picture but it doesn't do it justice! Supermoon just means the orbit around Earth is oval shape instead of circular. It's rare. You're right, scattered emotions can be a great thing, especially when releasing! As you can tell, I love the ๐ŸŒ™ ๐ŸŒš ๐ŸŒ” ๐ŸŒ• ๐ŸŒ– ๐ŸŒ›

Lol I took a couple of pics also
        Not great results
Thanks for the education re super moon
        Totally agree
If not released they are caged

Vivid imagery! The magic of the Moon and how it evokes dormant remnants of our Soul or our deepest desires.. Letting our inner out to play has its benefits!
        Great write!

All work no play makes Jack a dull boy
I really appreciate reading your input on my writing
          Thank you sage
          Always grateful

The supermoon in this poem and the description makes me think of a werewolf. Beautiful imagery throughout. Love this poem!!

            Well spotted
It's all about being turned by the moon's power
"The beast stakes his ownership claim:
            Of the man's body
Thank you for seeing what I'm trying to say Christina
            Extremely grateful

Nuance gets lost in tiny comments, I was so liking the piece I wanted to jump in, in retrospect it was an overstep. Your graceful demeanor shines through with that kind response.

The moon as always being the muse to some of the greatest poets since time immemorial!

We have always been fascinated by the myth of the wolf howling at the full moon, unable to resist its pull. Your poem, full of mystery and intrigue, paints a graphic and eerie picture with wonderful imagery. Great write!
