She invited me, though she held my fascination , I thought her out of reach
Lunch everyday fostered envy
from many thinking why him not me
pumped three to a strengthened stride adjoining gaits, effort with her graceful glide
all this, all looks, all those who’d replace me, my conquered Near fated clear, forever zoned platonically.
Then April 6th, 1979 12:52 am friendly cocktails my last day at that employ
Her invite for goodbyes was extra joy
She actually shared a question with I couldn’t foresee
Robert, you ever thought of going to bed with me ? The place the time the date forever burned and for underdogs a LESSON LEARNED

- Comment from author about the poem: It’s visceral and every second of my shocked silence is alive and I hold this moment with great fondness and value. It really happened exactly as I wrote. Still SMH.

First, the title is gold! I'm glad you hold this experience with such fondness! Certain "moments" don't come around often! 💫
One advantage your hand to balance holds is that I likely don’t have 44 years for DMP to sour and fester in an infamy.
Those memories will be forever with you Bobby.
Andy
good fortune always smiles down on the righteous .. my guess is, you earnt it sir .. very muchly enjoyed .. Neville
Was six great years, she became a vice president of Op and married a millionaire and moved to New York. I got lazy and she kept pushing. Many lessons in love and life and out of nowhere 14 years later she showed for my mothers funeral. She visited me at home concerned for my mental well being and I didn’t dare to approach. After a few hours she stood and said “Robert, I know your sad so I’ll do this part but you help with the rest “
She then slid her dress off her shoulders and dropped it to the floor. Whenever again met or spoke.
Great memory Bobby
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful write
The one part I struggled with
YOU an underdog???
Charmer
Do you admit openly how much fun you are?
She's making you an offer you cant refuse.Enjoyable read.
Thanks. Like that Olympic song
MY ONE SHINING MOMENT!
The title led me down a false path until the ending where my thoughts had to do a major readjust. We live in a world of surprises and some of them are memorable and some are just plain good. Nice write Bobby.
I was going for that homey kinda title, like when an old guy tells a kid that the sun don’t shine on the same dog’s ass everyday or May it does shine on a different one? I got confused so I went w squirrel but I felt bad talking about a blind one cuz of PETA and stuff?
Brilliant capture of the memory.
