A sort of discourse
Dried up on poems a bit.....
I suppose it's easy following a God or god
When all is easy and calm
All nice and cosy, sensing His presence
And blessings abounding
Yet He is there with us, in and through trials too
Tests of faith at times? or always?
Not to condemn hymns
Yet some can be rather 'general'
And one can 'hide' behind them
Some are focused entirely on God
Giving him praise and worship
But it's a relationship
It's as is written - God our heavenly Father
So we must be His children, His people
His sons and daughters
His princes and princesses even
As He is also Lord and King
Will we grow in Him? Will I grow in Him?
Will we grow in faith?
It's not 'religion' in a sense of
Observing rules and regulations
That was the Pharisees' trouble
And they got Jesus' rebuke of 'hypocrites'
There's books like:
'When bad things happen to good people', etc
We like it calm, cosy, all on an even keel
Yet troubles have their place too
Whatever human life may 'throw' at us, good or bad
I suppose we wouldn't grow
If we were always on 'holiday' (as a metaphor)
If nothing changed
If nothing inspired us
Though we may not all experience
Persecutions, even martyrdom and death
As some have of old
And still some today

- Comment from author about the poem: Bit of a ramble. I've called it 'reflection', not 'religion' category. Apologies - you may have had this hymn only recently.

Thanks Gold.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
Thanks 2781.
Your totally on point Orchi,
We have to accept the trials along with the blessings,
How are we going to grow stronger as citizens and children of God,if we cannot handle the trials and tribulations.
I know we have a habit of blaming God fir the bad stuff, I'm guilty of it myself,
But He showed me that in order to grow and be where He needs me to be, I had to endure those times and am only stronger because of them,
I am so thankful for every experience and trials that I went through, because without them, honestly I wouldn't be who I am today and would be lost to God and myself.
Thanks M.
Meanwhile, I say to folk (imaginary) 'You think you got troubles? I'm married to KP!' lol.
Hahahaha, you got me there!!!π€£π€£π€£
Phew! Thankfully an imaginary nightmare. Do you dream of watches, etc, while I dream of hats, etc?! Can we stand much more of this?! π
Hahahaha I don't know Orchi !!πππ
One time it was raining near the end of a service, so I took the hat (did I? lol) when it came round, and wore it home to keep dry. I said 'Ah, thanks, this will keep me head dry'. lol.
