The Sense of Something Before it is Something
At the end of the day
it is not only
the daring to look,
but the finding
that really matters,
isn’t it my darling ..
For instance,
take the silver
off white glint
on a herons cheek ..
Visible only
in the half-light,
or the tremor
of a single leaf rejoicing,
the moment
it shakes off that last
drop of rain,
before fall and is free
once more ..
And what about
the apple smell
of a tap room, lingering ..
And that of
new puppies, young
babies and old
scent bottles found
in attics
and long lost
camphor trunks
by chance ..
Or that of the smell
trapped between
pages of old books
kept in libraries,
out of reach of both
prying eyes
and too tiny fingers ..
While the sound
of cracked church bells,
nightingales,
and worms turning
cut through the air
and compete with that
of snow drops
emerging ..
And can then, be heard
in the distance
above the cry of gulls
and storm clouds
forming ..
Come tell me darling
what on earth,
are we each missing ..

Precognition? Because this whole poem reminds me of.....being intuitive. Having....found....recognition of something that's about to happen...a hint. Even maybe...de ja vu! And yet, your question at the end, to me, says...."we know, we found, so what are we waiting for?". Got me thinking hard! Thank you!! π
Something like that .. I can see how it kinda fits .. and am a great believer myself .. but then I guess you knew I was gonna say something like that, didn't ya .. I just knew it .. ta LIZ n truly π
YES I DID!! π«’π
Dang it! What we been missing? I been missing all this with KP around. All I get is the smell of botox! lol.
Botox doesn't have a smell, nor should the solution it is mixed with .. I suggest you go check out your hutch ..
But she says she mixes in some horse manure liquid with it too - says it helps improve things. π

Oh what a gift to drink lavishly
from your intoxicating poetic ink
A dreamscape of language
gifting a sip of fresh fall cyder brew

Could there be more? So many things get overlooked, are never sought after,
or are just plain missed as valueless. In the course of life much is never experienced, because of its lack of necessity. People draw the breadth of their living into the quarters of their habitat. Life becomes richer as horizons are expanded.
An eye-opening poem that gives examples of things missed and questions whether we should be more open-minded. Loved the personification of "the leaf rejoicing." I believe your examples cover all of the senses save the sense of touch and I guessed this to be intentional. Great poem. - Phil A.
you always leave such uplifting, well reasoned somethings behind my friend and I doubt I shall ever tire of finding them .. bless you Phil .. Neville
Wow!π π
Iβm a believer. Snow drops emerging, heard in distance, above when doves cry. I hear Prince on guitar bringing this above the visceral that already exists. I read it twice and added it to my file if keepers that add force to my life.
Your intro made me think of Mike Nesbit, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork & Davy Jones .. but what made your visit here more than is customarily special .. is that I can not think of a word that does justice to the honour you have bestowed upon me and my little scribble my friend .. thank you so very much .. Neville πΆπΆπ΅π΅πΆ
