Deliverance Days

orchidee

Tune: Llanfair

('Hail the day that sees Him rise')

Parts of Psalms 16, 17, 18, and 20

*********

The lines are fallen to me - Alleluia!

In pleasant places, here see - Alleluia!

I have goodly heritage - Alleluia!

Inheritance, privilege - Alleluia!

I have set the Lord always - Alleluia!

Before me, e'en all my days - Alleluia!

Because He be at my side - Alleluia!

I not be moved, here reside - Alleluia!

Keep me as apple of eye - Alleluia!

I to you for refuge fly - Alleluia!

Hide me under the shadow - Alleluia!

Of your wings, safety I know - Alleluia!

I will love you, Lord, my strength - Alleluia!

You do help me here at length - Alleluia!

You my rock, my fortress too - Alleluia!

Deliver me, me renew - Alleluia!

You my God, my strength, my shield - Alleluia!

I will trust you, to you yield - Alleluia!

You, strength of my salvation - Alleluia!

Tower, stronghold, you the one - Alleluia!

From my foe, strong enemy - Alleluia!

He did help, deliver me - Alleluia!

And from them which me hated - Alleluia!

They too strong for me rated - Alleluia!

For you will light my candle - Alleluia!

I to you shall on you call - Alleluia!

The Lord God will enlighten - Alleluia!

My darkness, will it brighten - Alleluia!

Some trust chariots, horses - Alleluia!

Or ways that be man's courses - Alleluia!

But we will remember sure - Alleluia!

The name of the Lord e'ermore - Alleluia!

The Lord lives, blessed be my rock - Alleluia!

I withstood the tempest's shock - Alleluia!

Through him, let Him exalted - Alleluia!

Be, who saves, our living Head - Alleluia!

The Lord hear you in the day - Alleluia!

Of trouble, unto Him pray - Alleluia!

The name of God defend you - Alleluia!

Send you help, strengthen, renew - Alleluia!

reminds me a little bit of LNC's Halleluiah .. it also reminds me just how bad Royal Mail is generally but gets even worse on the run up to xmas festivities .. Neville

Thanks N. I've run out of A....... now - see, I've run out of them!
Just when Royal Mail seemed to be getting better (?), with more than one delivery per week round here. Doh!
I try not to use post that much now, and try to save others using it too (charities, etc) - expensive postage costs.
A bit like - who writes actual letters these days? I do, but it's a trend from millions of years ago for me, being a very old guinea pig.

      That's a whole lot-a alleluias!

      • orchidee

Yep, thanks CB. lol. Is Hallelujah the same as Alleluia? I must know these things! lol.

        • arqios

yep! one and the same thing. Like tomato and tomahtoh!

          Handel would be proud

Thanks Bobby. Charles Wesley did them Alleluias too!

I’ve just learned something. Thank you. That’s the best thing about this site. It has garnered some with thirst for knowledge and a willingness to share.

              • orchidee

Erm, he wrote about 8,000 hymns, including some non-published ones. Wesley that is, not Handel. I got a few thousand more to write before I catch up with him.
And yep, it's educational on 'ere, innit, not any ol' rubbish! lol.

                • Bobby O

And this is not hyperbole and is actually a sincere belief of mine, let it sink in, try not to quickly react or disagree,
The collective work and genius of William Robinson compares favorably and even exceeds the works of the authors you mentioned. Bob Dylan referred to him As America’s Greatest Living Poet. True story that’s easy to verify.

I shall have to look into William Robinson's poems then. I've no reaction, good or bad, as I've hardly heard of him, I confess!

He’s better known as Smokey Robinson
“ when you sigh weak am I a butterfly caught up in your hurricane lucky me umbrella free suddenly, I’m caught up in your summer rain”

                      Excellent work.

Are you drunk on Alleluias, should you have put some water in them. LOL
