Listening to the great record,
Spinning - it does - whirl without end.
Bringing again - yes - them memories.
Singing the tunes and growing old,
We never could keep up.
Being the story that could never speak…
Freeing the mind with ethereal clarity.

Good write R.
My record's got stuck in the groove, I say, my records got stuck in..... etc!
Do shut up Orchi, say Fido my imaginary dog. Remember him, he barks at poets 'forgetting' to mark certain poems 18+. lol.
Yes, I could never forget Fido. It’s unfortunate to see ur record stuck, yet maybe with enough effort it’ll dislodge. Embracing the future brings that. It’s all about our attitude to life. Take care and happy New Year.
We could never keep up being the story...I read it as one line and then 🤯
Wow, I love that interpretation. That’s the beautiful thing about poetry, it is always a work of art that can be seen through multiple perspectives. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem, thanks.
i really love this poem! especially how it depicts spinning, memories, and all. happy new year!
Hello, thanks for such a nice reply. Aging is an inevitable part of life, so I wanted to capture that aging in a positive light. The record in this piece is also symbolic of the circles our lives take, it is a cycle that “whirls without end.” Take care.
you captured said aging very well! as a teenager, your poem resonated with me. take care as well.
It is a perfect endeavor that I employ to clear my foggy brain. Just to say I was singing Barbra Streisand tubes out loud and my dog ran and hid. Who knew he disliked Streisand THAT MUCH??
Streisand is a legend. Yes, music really is an anti-aging experience. It’s as if you are transported to the good old days, and time doesn’t exist. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem, take care.
