There’s a void in the world
A void that has always needed more
Love in the hearts of people
Peace and understanding behind that door
Love to take the place of
Hatred, vengeance and violence
For people to come together
Communicate and end the silence
If we are to grow as a species
And not cause our own demise
We need to see love in ourselves
And finally open our eyes
We were not put on this Earth
To birth its destruction
We need the building blocks of love
To begin its reconstruction
Let’s wipe the slate clean
Put aside all weapons of arms
Fill our world with love
Embrace with unified arms
Or we will destroy ourselves
Animals, mammals and plant life too
The Earth a dead burnt out planet
A sad ending view
But maybe it’s not too late
If we can dig down deep for love
To love our world and everyone in it
The lack there of

Filled to the point of overflowing with important and likewise irrefutable universal truths & of course just the write amount of insight & love ..
Thanks N, just doing my part to lift the world up a little from the mess its in. ππ
Peace and understanding. Sounds so simple doesnβt it? Most of us want the same. We just have to live in hope. Love instead of conflict. Beautifully penned dear poet.
Thanks Cassie, yes it would seem the simple and obvious choice. But people seem to be hung up on aggression and fighting. I also think that power hungry egotistical world leaders need to grow up and pull up their big boy pants and join the real world for unified peace.
Good write AP.
I gotta love KP too? Arrgghhh! lol.
Socially? Yes, romantically? Run away as fast as you can Orchi. I heard that KP got a gold medal for the 100-yard dash at 5 seconds. Why are you still standing there Orchi? Get going. π
A beautiful poem of what is needed now more than ever!
Thanks GenXer. The song in the video came out in 1965, and you're right. It's still needed now more than ever. When will we humans ever learn? Will we ever learn?
Some of do while others just donβt understand
But its not that hard to understand. Live with peace or die from wars. Sometimes I have to wonder if they just want the whole world to blow up.
I was a sophomore in high school when Jackie DeShannon recorded this incredible song, the
60's: hope, make love not war, activism. Young people, on campuses around the country, rebelled against injustice, prejudice, senseless war. They were fearless, breaking barriers, and as I read your oh so true words, I find myself saddened for the courage that we've lost. I suppose, perversely many of those who marched grew up to become the complacent. Let's hope that our young people today, have the visual clarity to see what is being left to them, and the love in their hearts to change the world, they are the future. Thank you dear friend for your remarkable social conscience, and for gifting us with this remarkable poem. A thousand fav's!
I'm younger than you Bella, but I do remember all that you mentioned. Its just unbelievable that our leaders didn't learn anything from the 60's. And you're right it's the young people of today that will inherit this mess if we can't resolve it. Thank you Bella for your compliments and comments. A thousand favs, WOW, thank you doesn't seem enough. π
This is wonderful and from the heart. You have an talent. Keep using it.
Thank you Lil, I plan to. π
Yeh, what the world need now is love sweet love. A gorgeous version of the song and an absolutely heartfelt read my dear A.P I bow this evening to the beauty of your heart Sir.
Thank you Teddy. I'm all smiles. π
Powerful and poignant. Fantastic work.
Thank you Thomas. π
If only this could happen AP, the world would be a wonderful place.
Andy
I've not given up hope yet Andy. I hear it said that there's always hope. Thank you for the read.
A beautiful thought yet it seems so far away. I have written on this several times and it seems that although we pride ourselves on our technological progress we have never had a social revolution to take us out of a world of hate, anger, and war. Well written with good meter and rhyme.
Thank you soren, I've written on it too a few times. But who listens to poets except other poets? It's a sad state we live in within these modern times. A Russian and a North Korean both threatening to launch nuclear weapons. I sense God looking down at our world and shaking his head saying, "They just don't get it." π
