Accidental Poet



 

Finally, at days end

My head and pillow meet

Weary of the day’s events

Relieved to be off my feet

 

As I drift off in slumber

Sleep carries me away

Aloft on a cloud of dreams

My imagination on parade

 

Where my mind can let go

The auto-pilot in the driver’s seat

Let my batteries recharge

And I am restored complete

 

At sunrise I’ll awake

Refreshed and alert

Ready for another day

Lively and pert

 

Until again the Sun goes down

And I look to my bed

Where my pillow waits

Longing for my head
