Now More Than Ever

Accidental Poet

I’ve no children of my own

Unsure if that’s good or bad

I would’ve liked a son and daughter

Making me a happy dad

Our world increasingly violent

World love a distinct minority

But for that group

Love a high priority

Either you’re for love

Or against it

No in-betweens

You’ll need a heart to sense it

It’s the younger generation

That will inherit our world

Be it devastation or paradise

To every boy and girl

Its they’re future at stake

To live out a full life

Smiles with their own families

Instead of a world in strife

Now more than ever

Have we needed world peace

Eliminate weapons of mass destruction

For all wars to cease

A good point, very well made, AP.

You cover a large topic there, AP. I'm not going to answer it completely, other than to:
I, for complicated reasons, too have no issue. For me that is no bad thing considering the world is severely over populated and about to sink int oblivion. I won't be around to see that very painful process, for which I can only be extremely grateful.

You pen here what many think. I worry about what sort of world my grandchildren are going to navigate in the future. It is frequently on my mind as the view from my armchair is a world in conflict. Where differences become magnified and the common ground disappears altogether. Maybe if I didn’t have grandchildren, I wouldn’t worry quite as much.

A thought provoking poem today AP. Let there be love, let there be peace.

Thank you for reading Cassie. I try to be optimistic, until I see the news.

Both of you to your separate corners and wait for the bell to ring to begin. 😬

I am a lucky fella having two .. one of each .. but you raise several excellent points here which I wholly accept and agree with .. and each fills me with dread, now more than ever ... Neville

If I did have kids of my own, I'd be very concerned of their survival in the next several years N. Even without my own, I'm concerned for all of us on Earth. It's just not looking good, from presidential elections to nation leaders threatening to push the button.

On a more happier note, I just received two more of your books from Amazon. Chasing Light and A Handful of Ghosts. 😉

You just made this old fella a very happy one indeed my friend .. and on behalf of all those who suffer either directly or more indirectly with or from a brain tumour, I thank and salute you 😎💛👍

            Such very true words AP.

I just cannot understand why people hurt children!!

I just find it so sad that its the children's future that is in jeopardy. Thanks for reading and commenting Andy.

I myself have one son but I have many friends who for many reasons that never had children, I could never be sorry for what I have but I do worry immensely at our world today and moreover what it will be like tomorrow, there are no answers to things we will never know. I'd like to view we are given just what we are meant to have. The world today is frightening for all. Big hugs dear A.P this one is most heart felt. 🤗

Thanks Teddy. I wish you and family love, hope and safety. 😉
