Hate

Accidental Poet

One word in the humane language

No matter the source of tongue

A word deserving of deletion

From mouths of everyone

Hate

A very strong word

It serves no positive purpose

Not when love needs to be heard

The word hate

Brings out the worst in all of us

Instilling hostility in children and adults

Must we be a world so callous?

I hate this, and I hate that

I hate you and you hate me

Where is the love,

that we need so to be?

Our world so divided

We can’t find a common ground

That love is so scarce

Not enough to go around?

Four billion years on

This rock we call Earth

And you’re telling me now

That hate defines our worth?

Hate, a poor choice of words

I believe we’re better than that

Can’t we just say, “I disagree”

And leave it at that?

Hate, the magnet

Pulling us all down

Down to the will of evil

Where our end of days are found

But I say to you, every idle word that men shall speak, they will give account thereof in the day of judgement.

Thanks for reading and commenting 2781.

True words AP, that word should be banned.

That would be great Andy, but even if it was banned, someone would still use it because it limit's their freedom of speech. Which although true, the point of banning it is being ignored. Thanks for reading Andy.

Totally agree it's a very very ugly word. My dear A.P ever inspiring me with your poetic thoughts. Thank you. 🤗

        • Accidental Poet

Thank you Teddy, I guess it's a word that was inevitable to exist, but it just seems that it feeds itself more and more in the world. Like a monster corrupting the whole world. I know, I'm thinking too much again. 🤔

        • Tom Dylan

Completely agree, AP. Good point, so very well made.

          • Accidental Poet

Thanks Tom. Have a great day .😊

Send all the hate to me and I will pass it on to KP. Not to hate her personally, but so I can hate it more when she wants more botox money. heehee.

The title reminds me of someone - a 'man of peace' supposedly said: 'I'm a man of peace; and if anyone does not agree with that, I will punch them on the nose!'
Can you guess who it was? Clue: Irish.

            • Accidental Poet

Sorry Orchi, I've no idea who it is. But that is the type of person this poem is about.

              • orchidee

Have to tell you privately who it was.

A great message. I think all people have a right to dislike something but hate is something that destroys the bearer. Hate is nothing more that a hat with a detached e. A hat that marks its wearer as out of place especially when it is not removed out of respect for others.

                • Accidental Poet

Thanks soren, yes, too many people misuse the word without regard to the implication being applied. Most people don't care or don't understand how one word can grow into so much disrespect for everything in life. There's just no need for it in today's world where there is too much negativity already.

I quite agree AP .. one of my least favourite and used of four letter words .. and just like its polar opposite four letter word, love is also far too often and inappropriately used .. Neville

Have to agree with you on that N. Its like we need to reprogram the world on the proper use of language and how to apply it. Thanks N. 😉👍

Sadly it is a word used far too often. I agree with Teddy, it is an ugly word and the less used the better all round. It!s a word that can whip up a storm in no time at all. Thank you AP. All the best.

                    • Accidental Poet

It won't solve all the world's problems, but it's a great place to start Cassie, thanks for reading and commenting. 😉
