“So…you want to be a politician”
The father says to his young son
“Are you sure this is what you want?
This is a career you’ll take on?”
“Yes father, this is what I want
I have experience as a leader
I’m the Club President
Of “Girl Mistreaters”
“We make fun of the girls
Just because we can
It makes us feel important
Just like a real man”
“1st rule in my club
I make all the rules
Second rule is
Revert to rule #1”
“I give all the orders
To the boys in the club
They do as I say
Bow down to me, fetch my grub
“But son” says the father
“That sounds like a dictatorship”
“Well dad, that’s how it’s done
I rule a tighter ship”
The father sensing trouble says
“You can’t base your political career
On today’s world leaders
You need to be truthful and sincere”
“But dad they all lie
I’ll just beat them all up
The world is mine to do as I wish
I’ll threaten to blow them all up
Then the father wakes from his nap
And says to his beautiful wife
“Honey, how about we get a puppy”
To which she replies, “Such a happy life”

You have accurately described the mindset of the intelligentsia of today, and the example they set. You had me going, until the incredible zinger at the end, which so eloquently places the absurdity and foolishness of it all in perspective. Fantastic write my friend, you nailed it!!

And so it has always been. Times of Cesar, Attila the Hun, Hitler all great examples. Great point to the poem dogs would be better rulers.
