A Retort, To Mr. and Mrs. Cancel

AuburnScribbler

In order for me, to sum things up,

I will sip, from the Flyting cup,

don’t lecture me on autonomy,

when you’re riddled with hypocrisy,

you’re no tutor, slave to trends,

with such a mind, we can’t be friends,

like you, I don’t have the time,

and as I check, there’s ample slime,

so, be a genie, set dream alight,

by simply getting; out of my sight!

And you, over there, who knows what to wear,

why not rethink, to give a care,

for if you dress, to advertise,

you can’t judge, those prying eyes,

such a thing, repeated fault,

when you; for no reason; scream “ASSAULT!”

Men in the dock, are lambs to slaughter,

please don’t teach this, to your daughter,

thus, you too, I do abhor,

so, turn around, and use the door!

  • Comment from author about the poem: Meet Mr. and Mrs. Cancel. They both like to cancel things, for no good reason at all, other than what they think is a good reason: to keep up "state sanctioned" popular appearances, and therefore, keeping everything nice, "unoffensive" and sparkly! The male: is an unimaginative sheep, disguised as a social hero, and the female: is a perpetual tease, who by poisonous popularism, hates the ugly guy staring at her. We all know these certain people, who are infectiously spreading, and have the audacity to call themselves the future, but how can they? When in their infuriating conduct, they will evidently cancel most of tomorrow! Thus, this poem, is a retort from a guy, who's simply had enough of such a hollow King and Queen! I hope you that enjoy this poetic response, I hope that you're not agents of unnecessary division and dissatisfaction, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

If ever I have to cancel anything Ben there has to be a very good reason for me to do so.

Thanks for the read Andy, and yeah, it seems that cancel culturalists, cancel for the sake of it,.

I do agree with what you've said though, if the basest common sense and decency says to me, that if something has had been lazily tolerated for too long a time, thus, has spread like a disease, then I for sure would want to put an end to it. Certain parameters that comprise the political, social medial and commercial worlds, are very "worthy" of cancelling.

I hope that all is well.
