Tea With The Tree
A cup of tea with my friend the tree
What better companion could there be
The wind in her branches speaks softly to me
And reminds me of where I love to be
The place in which I feel so free
Where I am able to clearly see
That we exist harmoniously
It is never I, but we
And we shall never disagree
Through all the seasons by degree
We spend the time companionably
In winter her branches bare, may be
But they frame the sky so beautifully
Rains of spring nourish abundantly
The lushness of her canopy
And summer sun effusively
Bestows its warmth so tenderly
In autumn, leaves dramatically
Present in colors most heavenly
It is here in compatibility
That I share most reverently
A cup of tea most pleasantly
I am grateful for this familiarity
And I must say truthfully
I am her ardent devotee

I say this is more a soirée with an oak! Simply splendid to read this dear Bella you have taken me on a magical walk through the seasons we all cherish. A tunning and may I say inspiring piece here. Brings such peace and tranquility to me. 🌹
Dearest Teddy, your comments always inspire me. Thank you for sharing the magic of nature with me, and for your so kind words.
I have the soul of a shaman ,
I revere the majesty of trees !
The trees do rule, thank you kindly my friend.
More used to gum trees after all this time. They have their own charm - although if there's a space I'd like to share yours; some species of gum have a habit of dropping a branch without warning, and you have made yours so inviting, Bella.
One, I'm pretty sure superfluous, note: please get out from under there if thunder and lightning is about. (news here yesterday: three people in hospital after sheltering under a tree during a thunderstorm.)
Dearest Dave you are always a joy. I can stand on my deck no 30' from the tree line and just stare into the woods, and talk to my friends. I have to say I've hugged some pretty remarkable trees on our vacations. Thank you so much for your delightful comment. As for the thunderstorm, I watch it from the safety of my porch, but those trees do sway and I love it. Take care!
Trees are magnificent friends Bella, it is always wonderful to be amongst them.
Andy
My dear friend, you know all too well what I'm talking about and I thank you for always sharing the love of nature in your poems and your comments. Your comment is greatly appreciated.
I too feel akin to the trees. They get little credit for forming our houses and warming them as well. They get little credit as life forms but were here long before us and from them get get food as well. A lovely poem friend.
The life of a tree is a precious gift, as you so beautifully put it. Thank you for reading, your kind words are most appreciated.
Teresa Green was quite possibly my first crush at school .. She went on to marry a lumberjack .. well not exactly a lumberjack because we don't really have them here .. but he did train to be an arborist ..
Anyway, I digress so please excuse me .. I am a bit of a tree hugger too Bella and can wholly relate woodn't ya know .. Fir enuff .. Neville
Fir gosh sakes Nev, it's good to come out of that cedar closet and tell it to the world. Hug a tree for me, and I'll hug one for you. lol
Don't know how I missed this one Bella. I too am a tree hugger, since my younger days when I'd climb them in my yard. Wonderfully penned Bella. 😉👍
Thank you so much dear friend, and fellow tree hugger. I too climbed them in my youth, often snatching an apple or cherries here and there. There was something wonderful about being hidden from the world within those branches, almost magical. Maybe our tree climbing years are behind us, but wonderful memories are there. Take care and have a wonderful day!
I think for me, it wasn't apples or cherries, but just being up high in the tree seeing from a different point of view. It just seemed cool at that young age to be up off the ground. Hope your day is wonderful too. 😉
Never thought of returning some love to our trees, how ignorant of me!
Thank you my friend for reading. In this insanely busy world it's easy to miss what is right before our very eye. Sometimes we just need to stop and love the leaves. Take care!
Dear Bella, I also have an affinity with trees. There is a silver birch which stands at the side of my house, the branches of which greet my bedroom window. I call it my sentinel. On guard through thick and thin for the past 40 years. If anything happened to that tree, I would be felled. I love your poem. I can’t think of anything nicer than taking tea beneath a canopy of green leaves. Through the seasons, ever present. .
Bless you dear poet, I feel your affinity. Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so glad that you have such a treasure as your silver birch. The trees are steadfast, and I love that you title it "sentinal". Take care!
Lovely write.
Thank you my friend, so kind of you to stop by and read. Take care!
Tremendous.
You are the kindest Thomas, thank you!
A masterful poetic picture you have painted here Bella, thus, well worth a favouriting.
A rhyming structure like this, although simple in mind, whilst putting pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard, it can be very difficult indeed, but you have more than passed the challenge here.
The imagery that you've used is heartwarmingly encouraging, and the concept of sharing a "cuppa" with an ancient child of the Earth, is a clear reminder of much kinder and simpler things.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece, bravo, and I hope that all is well.
My dear friend, thank you so much for this beautifully poetic comment. Your turn of phrase is always a delight, and I am encouraged and inspired every time we meet in verse. Thank you for the fav and take care!
You are very welcome Bella, bless you for the comment, and the favouriting of this poem is very much deserved.
I will try to take care, make sure you do the same.
Trees are lovely and a lovely writing too ! I wrote a poem about a tree today . Nice to read your words
Thank you so much, your comment is greatly appreciated. I must admit I am a true tree hugger, and so happy to learn that you have penned a poem to our beautiful, leafy friends.
