Change

Accidental Poet

Of any given place

Any place on Earth

Change over the course of time

But no change to it’s worth

For only if you were there

At a given time

That place would make you feel

What you felt at that moment in time

Take a picture there

Save it where you put loved things

Take that picture back fifty years later

Change you’ll see in everything

Many years can pass

But the memory of that place

Will stay with you forever

Bring a smile to your face

Cherish those memories

For that place

Will continue to change

Change to a new space

So true AP, those places in memories are so special but if you go back they may well have changed.

That's just it Andy, the places always change over time, but the way it was when you were there will live forever in your heart. ❀️

Pick the lock Orchi, unless you'd rather stay with her. You know you'd miss her. 🀣

What a lovely subject dear A.P I often go back to places I have been as a child especially when I'm visiting London, what my memory and records are is in adulthood change because of course we ourselves have changed physically and mentally. There are also some places I would never wish to revisit in my mind nor in person. Such a wonderful subject hitting many buttons on my mind, living away from home has many perks and I do keep the memories I choose. I really appreciate how deep this one can be and what it would also mean to you to go back in time 56 years to that famous spot where love began. 🌹

Thank you Teddy for your thoughtful reply and memories, I always enjoy knowing that I have brought back fond memories for others, I just noticed that the photo I added to this poem wasn't there, so I tried it again and it still wouldn't load. And because of your suggestion I thought of adding that photo, but decided against it in order to save that photo for a poem specifically about that place and time in my life. Thank you Teddy for being the inspiration for that one. πŸ«‚πŸ‘

You inspired me to write about where and when my heart ceased to be a virgin, and soon as MPS time will let me post it, it will be done with the photo you suggested above. πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Your words truly bring to life the essence of memories held within places! It's amazing how each spot has its own story, memories stay fresh even as the years roll by, bridging the past, present, and future. Your poem is simply fantastic!

                        • Accidental Poet

Thank you Cloie, this poem came to me by way of my strolling through the woods of my childhood neighborhood where everything had changed with overgrowth and none of the trails and paths were still visible. I just couldn't believe how vivid the memory was in my mind, but standing there it was no where to be seen. πŸ˜‰

Never go back because it can be so disappointing. We did, my brother and I visited our childhood home again shortly he died. We sat in the car on the opposite side of the road trying to salvage our memories. I’ll never go back again. It had changed beyond recognition. A poem of nostalgia. Thank you AP. Hope your day has been a good one so far.

                            • Bella Shepard

During COVID, when my husband and I were limited to car rides, we took one on a Sunday afternoon, back to the neighborhood where I grew up, oddly 50 years ago. As you have so eloquently said, everything had changed, but was also the same in my memories. I told him "this is where, and that is gone, but I remember when". Thank you for this stroll down memory lane, for that never changes. Such a great write!
