Silly Me

Neville

Silly Me

Silly me,

but long ago now ..

I once

threw each letter

of your name

and yes,

in the right order ..

Into an

old wishing well

and called

upon the gods to

grant me just one ..

Then I burnt

three small green

candles ..

Each with your

name carved upon ..

And swore

upon the graves

of those

I once loved

I would find you

again,

or would die

in the searching ..

Silly me,

at the time I was

quite unaware

that you

had banished me

and that

wishing wells

worked for kids only ..

They can work for elders as well Neville but maybe you don't remember all the wishes you made.

Wishing wells aren’t just for children, they are for adults too. I know because I use them. So much longing and passion in this write. Besotted comes to mind and all to find that the wretch had banished you. Felt this one deeply. Silly though? No not at all. We’ve all been there. Great piece of poetry Neville.

Hope springs eternal, and love will always try to find a way, though starry eyes may not see the warning signs along the road. A touching vulnerability here my friend, beautifully crafted.

Hello Bella, just want to say thank you and to apologise for this ridiculously late reply to your kind visit and subsequent comments. I really am most grateful and have missed our exchanges. My only excuse is that work has been pretty much nonstop .. Kindest Regards, your friend, Neville

Not to worry dear friend, it's so good to hear from you. I've been remiss this last month in keeping up. The allergy season has hit full force so I haven't been quite up to snuff. I also sew products for my son's buisiness which has increased expotentially and last but not least I've taken on an additional 4 new patients to my hospice volunteer days. Everything seemed to hit at once, but hope to get better organized very soon. I look forward to our exchanges, you always inspire me. Thank You!
