Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.
I will return early January.
Politicians function as apologists:
“Unemployment low, jobs for all” – and so?
Leaves the uninformed and Economists
Preoccupied and with a happy glow.
Pay and conditions are not their concern;
It’s numbers which will tickle the fancy
Of a Pollie when it comes their turn
To confront the herd – reaction chancy.
But you know many listen with cloth ears,
Exhausted now they’ve given up the fight;
No choice but to go out for a few beers.
A Trade Union? They’ve yet to see the light.
I’m away soon; I’m quite ready to flee -
Don’t mean nothing to me as a retiree.

It's in a slide. Community replaced by government, government replaced by corporations. I wonder what comes next?
Anybody's guess at this stage, mate. At the moment it's just horse feathers and prevarication on a day to day level.
Such true words Dave, being retired has its thankfulness.

Thanks for that, Andy (puzzles me when some people dislike it - they feel useless - I probably am but enjoying anyway LOL).
Excellent work.
Thanks.
You get across a very important point, with wonderful rhyme & reason. I couldn't agree more. Such a good write!
Bella, I've missed you, but never lost faith that you were supportive, on my side. Many thanks for this.
I think that sometimes more power is attributed to politicians than they actually have (not that they don't have a great deal) It's people, pollies, the rich and powerful all part of the same damn thing.
Sorry I've been laying low, allergies have hit early and hard and I've been in somewhat of a fog, waiting for the brain to clear. You've expressed very succinctly the position we find ourselves in; do we continue with more of the same because "that's the way we've always done it", or do we aspire to change for the better. Perhaps like the Phoenix, we must crash and burn to rise from the ashes, and if we're lucky to learn from the mistakes. Take care my friend, it's always a pleasure to share thoughts with you.
Same here, Bella. I sometimes get that allergy fog thing, which may be somewhat similar to yours - if so, then know I'm full of empathy.
Got you Dave I'm in the same boat sailing down shit creek with no paddle.
No one in their write mind would argue with the point you make here and so eloquently sir Dog ... Neville
