I’d Rather Die

Accidental Poet

The older I get

I look back again and again

How change is part of life

But I still feel the same

Work ethics change

From youth to adulthood

Maturity a great teacher

Learning a tranquil mood

Now an older man

I see the changes in me

And how I’ve not changed that much

What always mattered to me

Life can bring you down

But can also bring you up

As you get older

Learning a refined touch

Take it one day at a time

Don’t sweat the small stuff

It’ll take care of itself

In time enough

I’d rather die

Without all the stress

And when that day comes

You can lay me to rest

We're struggling with some things, mainly health-wise at present. Not exactly the blind leading the blind, but the sick helping the sick!

      • Accidental Poet

Well Orchi, I hope that you'll very soon be on the mend. 😊

          Thanks AP.
A dark joke - how to get rid of Jehovah's Witnesses in covid times - open the door and cough! lol.

          • Accidental Poet

I'd say you got the point across Orchi. 😉👍

I don't put my faith in doctors and hope to die in my sleep.
And keep going as long as...

            • Accidental Poet

as long as the Sun keeps coming up 2781. 😉👍Thanks.

We all want less stress dear A.P right now.ive been battling shingles for more than a year. My doctor told me to throw all the stress in the bin. I try every day, but life isn't always roses and ice cream hey, this is beautiful and speaks to all. 🌹

              • Accidental Poet

I'm sorry to hear of the shingles Teddy. I hope it goes away very soon. And as always, thank you for being here. 🌹

Great write AP! If only we could rid ourselves of stress.. I think the only answer is to Trust that God will take care of it.

                • Accidental Poet

My plan of action is to just look the other way and ignore it. Thanks GenXer. 😊

Words off wisdom AP. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don!’t make life more difficult than it need be. The only constant in life is change and that can be difficult enough to deal with, Go with the flow. Sounds good, but the older I get I find I am not going with the current. Great write. Have a great day.

You have done something quite unique my friend, you have put into wonderful words the joy of aging, for it is there in every new day. Days are not to be counted, but lived. For all of us seniors I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

                    • Accidental Poet

Oh I've no desire to go before my due time, I too have much to do. But I can do without the stress. 😊👍
