Hold the Sugar
He left it there, on the table
where they
once used to make love on
a fairly regular
basis too, he just happened
to add, while
wrapping a tear in a clean
handkerchief ..
He often wondered these
days after so
many years, whether she
still retained
such perfect recollections
as he did, or if
she worried about anything
at all, except
maybe where he left her
mid-morning
coffee and rich tea biscuit ..
But what really
brought a tear to his eyes
on that day of
all days, was that he knew
she could not
recall whether he still took
his strong, black
and with no sweetener at all ..

Sounds like me, forgettable.
Hey, can anybody tell me where that come from
Awe, if it was an important moment for her then yes, she would remember, if not then your writing a poem because you have those fond memories but that's love and reflection which makes you a poet in every sense dear Nev. πΉ
Aww shucks πΉ
That table has seen the wars over the years.... maybe not wars.... that's for you to say... Well anyway since it seems to have survived.. I need a strong table.. If at anytime you were thinking of flogging it - sans all the coffee paraphernalia of course....
Consider it yours for free .. but you pay the shipping .. ππ
Good write N.

There is a feeling of personal loss about this poem that is so very touching. A realization that something precious has slipped away, something which was so familiar can no longer be recalled. This really tugged at the heartstrings my friend, incredible write!
I am more than just a little glad you came along Bella .. You always read me so well .. Thank you so much .. Neville
Metaphorical Moments carve indelible impressions and even if we beg ourselves to minimize a possibly exaggerated reflection of the event , itβs a battle we often lose.
Like Dat!
Where you bin .. I near quit pulsin to the beat on da street .. neat man and truly .. Neville
