Tune: Binchester
('Happy are they, they that love God')
John 20 v.24-29
For St Thomas Day - July 3.
**********
Lord, if was to strengthen our faith
You allowed Thomas [to] saith
Except I see the risen Lord
I not believe, [that is] my word*
Jesus did then appear again
He had once appeared when
Thomas was not with disciples
Not within the house walls
Jesus said, Peace be unto you
Look, see it is me true
Touch me, Thomas, be not faithles
But believing, no less
Thomas said, My Lord and my God
You this earth sure have trod
'Tis you the same, then Jesus said
'Tis me risen from dead
And Thomas, because you see me
For you now no doubts be
Yet blessed are they that have not me
Seen, who believe faithfully
------
* Verse 1 is based partly on a Collect - a Formal Prayer.

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.7.8.7. When the risen Jesus appeared the first time to His disciples, Thomas was not with them, but he was there at Jesus' second appearance. If one of the other disciples had not been there the first time, it may been 'Doubting Peter/ John / James' etc instead.

St Thomas' Day was at one time on December 21, but that's near Ch..... can't say the word until December! lol.
I'm learning so much about the Bible without actually reading .Well done
Thanks David. You're learning too, that Goldfinch will shoot me if I mention Ch...... before December! lol. It wishes the year away.
Don't you dare mention that Ch.. word Orchi or I will come and take your pork pies away from you!
Agh! must have pork pies! lol.
Superb. My name's sake. Lol
Thanks Thomas. Aww, you not doubting?! heehee.
Now I said the same thing and am still waiting to see. It kind of helps credibility if I can see something. Good write Orchi
Thanks SB. The only way we're going to see Him in person is at His return, I say. Though we 'see' Him through Christians life, character, attitude, etc now.
