General election UK.

Morning here, I’ve got all day

And I will be listening.

Change I suspect is pending…..

Or so they say…..

They always talk about change... Good write.

    • Doggerel Dave

Brief comment off the street (via my TV):
" Yeh, there will be a change of government, but will it change my life?"

    • Mutley Ravishes

I was listening to the NF song "Oh Lord" the other day. There's a line in it where he says everybody wants change, nobody wants to change though. I'm sure the salespeople/managers and their bosses know this.

      • Doggerel Dave

You have a point when speaking for the 'elite' of society, but not for those at the bottom.

        • Mutley Ravishes

Would you agree that everyone has the innate ability to change their own circumstances? The problem is ignorance of how to go about doing that (whether that's due to lack of awareness or willful ignorance). One doesn't need to be wealthy or one of the so-called elite" to change their personal circumstances.
As for the "election," what was that line from one of The Who's songs - meet the new boss, same as the old boss!

          • Doggerel Dave

            Hi Mutley.
            Answers to your questions:
            - No.
            - Ignorance has far less to do with it than the wherewithal to implement personal change.
            - There may be considerable truth in that song, but I still have a smidgin of hope for change via the political system -although the real power lies elsewhere.

            • Mutley Ravishes

Thanks for your reply, Dave. The change I'm talking about is inside. I'm putting it into practice now, and it's totally free! My age, financial condition, location, IQ, athletic ability, nationality, skin tone, gender, sexuality etc etc has nothing to do with it! "As within, so without," as it's been said. Of course, if I was homeless it'd be a lot more difficult. Still with the awareness of what to do....
              Have a great weekend!

              • Doggerel Dave

"Still with the awareness of what to do...." A good wriggle. Don't start a debate you don't intend to see through.

                • Mutley Ravishes

Now, now. No need to get your knickers in a twist. I can’t speak for anyone else. All I know is that ignorance brought pain to me and others through the craving and aversion that it breeds. I still have a long ways to go.

                  • Doggerel Dave

A long way - to stop blathering and focus with coherent language would be a good place to start.

                    • Mutley Ravishes

Dear Dave, I think we both want the best for humanity. I guess we just have different ideas on how to go about that.
                      Wishing you all the best!
                      Mutley

                      • Doggerel Dave

You may continue, Mutely to contribute to my threads for as long as your immature urges press you. All publicity is good publicity.... I, in all probability will not respond. Your choice, but do, sometime in the future, get your act together.

                        • Mutley Ravishes

                          Dear Dave,
I wish you all the best in life
                          And to scale the heights
                          Of the three mountains
                          With the help
                          Of the fountains called
                          Awakened imagination
                          And transmutation
                          Of the force of Creation
                          Mutley

Well it is over, red my poem to see what I think.

                            Andy

                            • Doggerel Dave

Don't have to, Andy - you have always been totally consistent in your attitude to politicians.

Yes, a change..... I voted for the Fido party. It came in a close second place!

                              • Doggerel Dave

Second place in what though? The Honourable Company of Dog Censors?

                              • sorenbarrett

Politics like the weather changes constantly and is unpredictable full of false expectations and often disappointments. Great write Dave

You make a good point .. a very good point ..

                              • orchidee

And now the poem of The Prodigal Son.
Noooo, not here in the Comments box, says Fido!

                                • Doggerel Dave

What is the Prodigal Son doing here? To vote in the U K general election would be illegal, methinks.

                                  • orchidee

I gotta find out what prodigal means exactly, before going any further!

                                    • Doggerel Dave

You seem to be going around in ever diminishing circles... where do you think you will end up unless Fido intervenes? I think this is all becoming too much for yer you poor old fellla. I think you need a good long lie down.
I'll be waiting for yer when you wake up.

                                      • orchidee

Ohh, it's all too much! I'm a Drama Queen / King! lol.

The result is that the cabbage party finally got in but in the first 3 minutes was eaten by a giant rabbit called floppy, we are currently awaiting the rabbit to drop the digestion progress so we can pick up the pieces 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I ❤️ UK

                                        • Doggerel Dave

When our family left the UK in the fifties, we settled in North Queensland, where there were no flushing toilets. The Dunny Men collected the buckets once a week in the dead of night, and during the festive season left us a Christmas card.
Now what has this to do with the Uk Elections, you may be asking, Teddy…. No idea, - put it down to advancing years and increasing irrelevance….. as per the election…. 🙃

                                          • Teddy.15

The Tories did so much damage simply because they were not interested in politics but in themselves we only have to look at party gate and the COVID disaster to know that, I don't care who gets in as long as they have a passion for their country, and want to do good not damage, I have been watching the riot saga closely and I think they have actually done an excellent job. I obviously wouldn't want to speak too soon, but they have shown that England won't put up with such problems, we both have something on common we love home. 🌹I'm also looking closely at what they do to salvage the NHS. Hopefully some good 😊

                                            • Doggerel Dave

                                              Thanks for that, Teddy.
Agreed. I think we can both know that at the moment there are many open questions. I'd like to believe the dialogue is open between us, if and when we felt the need.😊
