Living Like Ghosts
Here,
where we all
live
like ghosts,
hiding
in plain sight ..
Quite
unlike any
other
apparitions
you
may well
have
met, or seen
before ..
But rather
like
some other
awful
visitation ..
Staring down
and just
waiting for
any
subtle signs
of hesitation ..
Wanting
to be
exorcised
then stealing
the contents
of so
very many
unsuspecting
lonely
souls and all
their
bloody secrets ..

A fine write N.
What secrets do KP and I keep from each other?! lol.
I don't hide any from her. I say, e.g. 'You're looking uglier each day, dear!' lol.
Thanks Orchidee .. I do feel sorry for her indoors .. Neville
Ah this metaphor could be applied to many different things. How many poets steal lines from others? And even if not consciously then from some vague distant memory verses appear out of thin air that we think are ours. Loved the short lines that gave timing to the poem. Very nicely done Neville
I am delighted you stopped by my friend .. thank you kindly .. Neville
Beautiful, Neville.
Too kind my friend but of course, I love it .. Neville
..... without any question re the source of those secrets (opinions - 'truths')...... Go for it Neville.
I'm gone, solid gone .. Cheers DD .. N
For some reason your words make me think of those living with mental illness, hiding in plain sight, but not really part of the world, unsuspecting lonely souls. At least that is my take. I love your phrasing, and I love a poem of contemplation. Kudos!!
and you are amazing .. bless you Bella .. Neville
We all have secrets that we bury very deep inside. Your ghosts can extract those and use them. Are they therapists?
A very intriguing poem. I was left with questions without answers. _ Phil A.
Sometimes its just best not to know .. Cheers Phil .. Neville
Or like an open book that no one wants to read.
................. absolutely maybe
No problem.
Fine words Neville and very true.
